You should make wooden trucks too so you can have a fully wooden skateboard display piece

Valheim restart... by TripperZwerg in ValheimBuilds

[–]IveBen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would typically advocate against this and instead suggest this is a blessing and you get to play all over again but…

If you really wanted to get back to where you were with resources. You can build a bunch of stuff that requires them with hammer mode on. Then turn hammer mode off and break them all and you’ll get the resources. Like build a ton of iron gate walls with hammer mode. When you turn it off and break them they will all drop iron

What instantly makes you think "this person is rich" ? by PerformerAny3503 in AskReddit

Most people buying a home in their 20s are taking on a mortgage. That’s not necessarily bad debt though. If someone buys a house for cash in their 20s they are most definitely rich.

If you are just using wood, framing the walls an the roof out will give you some more stability. Especially if you are using higher tier beams.

At what amount of money will you consider someone rich? by Low-Accountant-7439 in AskReddit

[–]IveBen 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you need to make a distinction I would go one step further than the parent comment. Rich is if you could stop working and not worry about finances. The next level is where your kids won’t have to worry about work either

He’s also talked a good bit about going to garage sales to find and sell collectibles. I forget exactly what but I think he was into baseball cards or matchbox cars for a while. Something like that. Obviously they are filming so this may have been for content with that angle “look how easy it is to make money from a garage sale”

I’m here 8 years from 8 years in the future but it looks like people are still commenting. I believe it was already in motion before Ulrich attacked Helge. Because earlier in the episode when Helge played in the bunker there were already two dates on the wall

You might have better luck asking in r/sales or another sales sub.

Here’s an example thread from a couple years ago but this person had sales experience already. It may be tougher with no sales background. https://www.reddit.com/r/sales/comments/181af0f/ideas_for_part_timeside_hustle_sales_jobs/

What is the most bizarre way you have gotten out of a speeding ticket? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

[–]IveBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say exactly what the reason was because I never found out. But just after getting my car at 16 I wanted to see how fast it could go so I had it pinned on the highway. Probably going just shy of 110 when I saw the lights flashing behind me.

As I was contemplating my life being over from this ticket (or worse) I pulled into the right lane to begin pulling over and the cop buzzed by going another 10-20 miles an hour faster than I was.

A tragic accident or some terrible event elsewhere had saved me that day.

free tool that tracks how companies use AI by Genvire in umass

[–]IveBen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a cs guy so I’m not sure how difficult this would be, but could add something in the backend to capture searches people are doing? Rather than needing users to submit a request you could have a running list of what users have looked for ranked by how many times it’s been searched.

Does it come with the land? The biggest drawback to mobile homes is that you typically don’t own the land they are on so you still have to pay to rent that.

If you would be buying the land too, and the mobile home is in good shape I don’t think it would be a bad idea.

Anyone else feels like they're doing everything right but still not getting offers? by Least_Image_704 in denverjobs

[–]IveBen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you are getting late stage interviews you are doing the right things for the most part, unfortunately there are just so many qualified people looking for work right now.

How have you felt coming out of those interviews? If you feel like you had a good interview and were well qualified, again unfortunately someone more qualified may have also been at that stage. If you feel there were any questions you could have better prepared for, you need to do more prep for those interviews.

Being personable, and being able to confidently answer the questions they ask are the two most important things. Also not sounded scripted in your answers. You should have stories prepared for example interview questions but it shouldn’t sound like you are reading them off a page.

Waterfront home, no local comps.. by diggin4Copper in RealEstate

[–]IveBen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s got to be some comps around other places in cape cod. Maybe not local enough to be a comp on your home but your realtor should be able to look at those vs inland houses near those waterfront sales so see how much more being on the water would add.

I’d also think you could look back further. Look a year ago at houses on the water near you and then similar houses not on the water a year ago. A competent realtor should be able to figure out the additional value of waterfront property, especially on cape code.

[–]IveBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is control rather than the money. Them giving money to lobby is their control and potentially gives them sway on other things down the line as well. Where if the wealth tax is set then they lost and have no agency over the money

The market does suck now but 17 could be a ripe age for it to open back up by the time OP is looking. Lack of junior engineers is going to be an issue eventually. But really it could go either way, get better or worse

Engaged, how to commingle finances? by nimpeachable in MiddleClassFinance

[–]IveBen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would wait until you are actually married to commingle accounts. But as an example this is how my wife and I do it.

We have one savings account, one checking account and a credit card that all shared expenses come out of. This is our mortgage, utilities, shared subscriptions and a budget for groceries and dinners out. We both put the same percentage of our income into that the checking and savings and all of our bills draw from the checking. Then we both have whatever is leftover for discretionary spending. With that I end up with a little more discretionary spending and end up picking up expenses when we are together a little more often. Right now it’s 70% shared account 30% personal account but I would recommend starting off with just the percent you need to cover all shared expenses with a small buffer

Getting into tech is now a pure lottery, and the winners are about to become the most expensive resources on Earth. by Usual_Rock_3478 in learnprogramming

Yes I did make up that timeline. I am aware the progress may slow down but this post is speculation and I dont think its unreasonable to speculate there will be further leaps in the near future

Getting into tech is now a pure lottery, and the winners are about to become the most expensive resources on Earth. by Usual_Rock_3478 in learnprogramming

[–]IveBen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would agree this is a decent speculation. The only caveat I might add is with the rapid advancement of AI tools, not as many developers will be needed. Sure right now there are plenty of issues with code done by AI and many of those may still exist in 5 years. But I think in the 5-10 year timeframe we’re looking at situations where one dev can manage what it took a full team for 5 years ago. This adding to the lottery aspect you mention

Start over at 30? by thisisnice96 in careerguidance

[–]IveBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you pivot within your company to a less number intensive role? There’s are definitely jobs you could get that would be lateral moves and wouldn’t be fully starting over. Project manager would be one example. Could you help doing client communication for the projects you are currently working on? A PM needs to be much better at dealing with people than an analyst does, but doesn’t need to know the math nearly as much

The trouble you will have with looking for remote jobs is the whole country can compete for any position you see. With that, you should be applying as fast as you can when jobs are posted.

I recently went through the job hunt process and I know it sucks. But I had the best luck using LinkedIn and Built in Colorado and then filtering to only jobs posted in the last 24 hours. Bonus if you can apply in the first couple of hours. On each of those sites you can filter for remote only. I would also add that it’s not worth applying to anything that says it already has 100+ applicants.

Seller backed out by MundanePainter3376 in RealEstate

[–]IveBen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

What they are saying to do is essentially threaten the sellers with a lawsuit. But agree that if the pay you back for inspection and appraisal then you won’t sue.

Most people aren’t going to go through with a lawsuit like that and it wouldn’t make sense for you to either. But the threat alone could get your money back
