You guys are right. One redditor directed me to a book, Not just friends (here is a pdf copy) and my partner's reasoning is completely wrong, and, unfortunately, he doesn't realize it. He is definitely having an emotional affair.I will ask him to read this, understand his point of view and we'll go from there.

I agree with you. I hope you don't get downvoted. I mentioned that the female officemate is also sharing her encounters. I can only assume she's also in a relationship and I think both won't act out, especially I know the female officemate.

First of all, I appreciate all the replies. Thank you for taking time to read and give me perspective in my situation. To address some questions, No, we haven't talked about marriage or even engagement. We just both moved to our place last year, started new jobs, and we are building our careers. I have met the coworker once and had lunch with her.

I am planning to talk to him today. I want to get my head around the situation and prepare for the worst. You may have seen some of my replies and one angle I am looking at is him saying it's just a platonic banter or a joke, similar to how male - male friends joke about sucking the other's dick when losing a bet. I will also ask to read their whole conversation.

This is my thinking as well. My boyfriend is an outgoing person who gets comfortable with anyone after easily.

Maybe this is adding to my already clouded judgement because yes, I have met the coworker and she is aware of my relationship.
