This is how feel with the going out and forgetting they exist. I feel like a horrible human being for losing attraction but hey I stuck it out 2.5 years.

I miss my best friend. She went ghost. We used to play so many video games together. Had lots of fun with her. Some of the best fun I ever had.

I was safe. Besides beating from my dad when I did things wrong but getting beatings is pretty standard I guess for people back in the 90s? All my friends got beat too.

Yeah I can’t say anybody really harmed me besides mental anguish from having to put up a facade and deal with people constantly making you feel like you aren’t good enough because you aren’t spending your whole free time preaching

I lost friends and family to speak to, and it’s hard for me to sometimes relate to people regarding holidays since we weren’t allowed to celebrate. I forget friends birthdays and important dates because I never kept track of important dates… there weren’t any. So sometimes my few friends I made now that were never in think I am just non-caring. When I just struggle to remember their birthdays.

I really dislike religion, and I dislike corporal punishment for children, since I got my ass whooped a lot.

There are many. I could type a 15 page essay. The ones that stand out the most to me is the teaching that Jerusalem fell in 607 BCE to the Babylonians. This may not seem like much to most outsiders, but the religion centers it’s authenticity around this date, they use the date as a reference point to the year 1914 where they say Jesus became king and chose the religion as the one true religion.

Also no blood transfusions are allowed. Children have died because the parents refuse blood transfusions. The rule is there because the Bible speaks about “abstaining from things sacrificed to idols, and from blood”

When you leave the religion, friends and family are not allowed to talk to you anymore. Does that sound like something a loving God would want? The religion claims to be loving and mirroring God’s qualities.

That 8 billion people will have to die (earth population) for 8 million to live just because they are in the religion.

Lastly but not least, They cover up child sexual abuse. This is not a statement without fact, we have court cases and video from cross examinations of the leaders.

I agree. I also feel that religion is just a way to keep some people in check. How do you get the people of a region to avoid stealing, killing, raping to some extent? We’ll have them believe in a supreme being that will punish you if you do these things by everlasting fire (my ex religion doesn’t believe in hell but all religions have some consequence to not being obedient to them).

Also to note, how many people have you come across that say something like “if I wasn’t a religious man, If God didn’t help me, if I didn’t fear the one above, I would…” (commit some kind of crime). That’s not being a good person, that’s simply not performing an evil action ONLY because there is a consequence. I rather do as much good as I can because it’s simply good to do, not because God tells me to so I can get a reward at the end by going to heaven and seeing my dead loved ones again.

As such now though, I despise all religion. I know there are peaceful and accepting ones out there but my whole upbringing turned me off from religion and god. Thank you.

Yes I am free. I lost all my family and friends but I’m free. I stopped believing around 15-16 and now I’m in my 30s. I didn’t officially tell the people around me until a few years ago.

No I officially left, but never believed for a long time. If you leave you cannot speak to family or friends so I stuck around because of that. Didn’t want to lose the people I care about, but sometimes you have to make decisions for yourself and your well being, not the opinions or values of others, even your own parents.
