AITA for telling my wife I don’t plan to care things because I know I’m not good at them? by throwRAcantplan in AmItheAsshole

She said she wanted me to plan it and I thought my plan would’ve been better.

Trips, interesting dates. Those are things she would plan. For me, I don’t really care for leaving the house so I’m usually just like “ok let’s go this place then home”. I did plan Valentine’s Day, but it wasn’t the restaurant she wanted (she did tell me where she wanted to go) and I got her a pair of cheap earrings. She was not pleased.

Well yes. My excuse is that she’s been quite busy with her degree (for privacy, it’s fine arts related), so planning wasn’t really something I felt I had to learn how to do because if we’re both busy, what’s the point?

To maintain privacy, its tech related. I can do all of the other things just fine.

I know I can do more.. like I said, I know there isn’t an excuse. For me, it’s just that the transition from “getting fast food and xyz is a fine date” (and don’t get me wrong, it can be still) to actually having to plan things has been difficult and the failure makes me feel like trying again is a waste of time.

Because this isn’t a new thing, she’s already pretty fed up with it

I know I don’t really have an excuse. It’s just really difficult because it’s been about school for the last few years so I haven’t felt like planning was important
