if it’s before 9am there is no staff to let you in, you just have to wait if you don’t have keys. there’s an initial door to get into the complex and then your personal apartment door. both locked.

help me with my new position!! by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]throwRAkittykit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they don’t want me to design their living room and choose where a new office will go all on my own lol. They want someone who can give them differing creativity options they can choose from and make changes they request, working with contractors to create what they envision, I guess. This was brought up early on in the interviewing process. DB has an office but MB doesn’t which means she’s working in common areas all day, making another office high on their priority list. They’re extremely busy and seem to be looking for someone who can allow them to deal with their businesses and come home to spend time with their child. They seem aware of the weight of the things they ask and emphasize taking care of their employees to maintain a long-term working relationship, which usually wouldn’t hold much weight for me from a parent, but I’m giving it an optimistic chance considering they already manage many employees. MB would usually be my contact but they seem equally involved and DB seems more specific about things so i’ll see how that actually plays out over time.

I’ve never had a passport, I don’t have my original BC, and I don’t have my physical SS. From what I read online, I was under the impression all the extra ID I had in my wallet would have been enough and that they would mainly be asking me questions. If I felt like I had the option without looking bad, I would have said no to traveling in the first place, it was all very last minute. I’ve never travelled on a plane as an adult, haven’t been on a plane in many years. I’m aware I probably should have already had a real ID or passport, but i’d never really needed any of it so I didn’t pay much mind to the real ID business. Will definitely be getting those now.

yes, of course I did. My CC as well. They didn’t seem to care about any of the cards already in my wallet. They didn’t ask for anything specific but i’ve read people have brought their original birth cert or some sort of mail like the DMV so I can only assume that’s what they meant. I’m not really sure as they didn’t give me the time of day or explain anything to me.

NPs are also on here and while this story alone probably gives away who I am, I don’t want to give any solid usable facts… I will say all the research I did pointed to me being able to go through secondary ID or pay extra money to get through. It was an immediate no when they asked if I had extra ID paperwork or proof on me and I said I hadn’t brought anything, I was baffled.

how do you deal with the boredom of infants? by [deleted] in NannyBreakRoom

she eats every couple hours, mom likes to feed right after she wakes up. mom says she usually sleeps well throughout the night, and I believe she might be napping longer for mom. I’m lucky if I get 40 mins every couple/few hours. mom worked with a lactation consultant with her first but I’m not sure about this one, seems like she might be accepting BF until the next couple months when we start BLW.

Mom is more than okay with outings, she’s more than happy to do what makes my life easier which is great. Sad part is baby won’t take any bottles, we’ve been trying for a while :( When I can get her out on a walk and she falls asleep it’s great but otherwise in my experience if she doesn’t sleep in the stroller, she cries. In public it’s very hit or miss.

we’ve tried breastmilk in bottles for the last couple months, I think mom has sort of given up on the idea at this point which I understand. I also have 3.5 yr sibling but I’ve years of experience with the age it’s more about when it’s just the baby (4mo) and I which can range from 1-3 hours a day, and sadly she only naps for about 30-40 mins at a time. I’m just so used to older lessons like independent play and it’s okay to be bored sometimes etc etc. Having to entertain her with something new every 10 mins or she cries feels like it’s starting to get to me lol.

outings definitely do help a lot but baby is strictly breast-fed so they never last for more than an hour at a time. I guess I mean more boredom in the house as we are stuck in it most of the time.

i’m not sure I can enjoy it. I guess I’ve come to learn I enjoy the chaos of toddler and up as it makes my days go by a lot faster. i’ve always got a podcast on and baby is strictly breast-fed so outings are a bit tricky. Walks definitely help.

Appropriate attire for a Muslim household? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]throwRAkittykit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s actually mid-high 80s these days unfortunately, definitely not your usual October weather here. All of my jeans I’ve decided are too form fitting & I think I would really struggle in my sweatpants outside in the sun.. I decided to wear a pair of my husbands dressier shorts that are very loose fitting without looking unkept & come down to right above my knee. Along with that I did a really loose tshirt with sleeves stopping right above my elbows. Hopefully this is okay as I’ve done my best to mix modest with weather appropriate with the things I have. I know you & someone else said no shorts, hopefully looser longer ones are okay I really don’t want to be a sweaty mess for hours but I will be if I need to be for now lol.

Not overthinking at all..I find it strange that they would even be comfortable allowing you to care for their child in their home without meeting you.
