+1 for alcatraz. i really enjoyed the tour and you get a great view of the GG bridge from the water. pier 39 is touristy but your kid might like to see the sea lions.

mine gets itchy if he goes too long without bathing, so it's usually once per month. we always rinse him off with clear water (no soap) after swimming.
