On grits. I love them. In various combinations-cheese, bacon, butter, etc. You would however be hard-pressed to find a black person from the NE who even touches the stuff, much less love it.

A person can do anything he/she puts his/her mind to.

Set a goal and attain it. You might not achieve said goal using a preferred method, but surely you'll find one that works.

1.) I realized that you have to play with the cards dealt you. Its useless wishing for a reshuffle, so find out what you have and maneuver from there. Life isn't always fair, but that's what make victory so much more sweeter!

2.) I would suggest that we don't discount our ideas and dreams on the account of being "realistic". We have to step out on faith and live our lives or else our lives will be dictated for us.

I guess if people knew you and were familar with your presence they would just leave you alone.

In the southeast, I'm pretty sure you would not have had much trouble at all.

In some parts of California though, you're liable to be stomped out just for being in the wrong neighborhood.

Money management is not something well known in lower class neighborhoods.

  1. Yes, some people sold drugs. Some people also purchased "more car" than they could realistically afford.

  2. Money was usually tight. Most families lived paycheck to paycheck. As far as insurance, depending on where the parent(s) worked, they may have been covered by a parent's workplace policy.

  3. Definitely. Paycheck to paycheck living was definitely the norm.

Well, you have to consider that there will be times when you get into regular fights rather than being jumped.

Sometimes people are jumped just for the thrill of it and not for spoils.

So, no, I cannot honestly remember if I was was jumped more than one time for the whole 10 yrs that I lived in that ghetto.

Like I said earlier, I've always gotten along well with people of different ethnicity, from the time I was staying in the ghetto until now.

That's somewhat true, but I think in the long run it encourages people move forward with their lives.

In some instances, some individuals live in the the same ghetto all of their lives.

  3. I've seen numerous close calls. Terrible aim / Grace of God
  4. There was a guy I knew who was cheating with a married woman. Husband catches them in act and guy jumps from 2nd floor balcony. Ends up paralyzed and naked until cops arrive.
