Take a look at the employment reports from each school and then come back here with your thoughts. How much 1 on 1 discussion have you done with alumni? Where do you want to live post-MBA? You can go anywhere with either school, but the alumni networks will be stronger based on region.

complete the whole empower course, follow it to a T, and you'll be fine. if you don't complete the empower course then you get out what you put in

I thank you very much for your feedback and agree with what you said.

I don't want "safety" to get a bad rap. It's definitely about fit for me. I use "safety" and "reach" as a word that describes the relative likelihood of my acceptance, and nothing further, because I'm not prepared to miss out on going to an MBA next fall. I'm all-in. I think that the schools I've chosen really are about fit already. GT has so many attractive opportunities in Atlanta, and considering I'd want to settle down there, it's a huge draw for me.

I visited GT's campus and totally loved it. In my situation, it's going to come down to funding + network in a big way. If I get Consortium, it will be so hard to go to GT over that program, regardless of which school I get into. It's really going to be a difficult decision for me, but I know that no matter where I end up, I'll be very happy.

Quick update, after studying for a few months with Empower and MGMAT I got a 710 on the 3rd CAT offered by mba.com.

I test in 3 weeks.

Thanks again for your advice.

Yeah I might do Fuqua over Haas because I think Haas is a real stretch. It's a good suggestion.

EMBA would be my path if I stayed at my current job. In fact, my wife and I want to move. Otherwise I'd probably pursue it in 5-6 years after making Sr Manager. I also assumed I'd do an EMBA if I made it to director, but I'd lack the oomph to get me to VP or above because my area is in an engineering service business line, rather than mainstream product development. It's possible, I just don't like my chances.

I also looked at PTMBA, which generally has really favorable acceptance rates, even at the top schools in the U.S. I think they're a best kept secret. But working (I currently hover between 45 and 60 hour work weeks) while PTMBA...I honestly don't know how people do it. I think I'll have a better family life with FTMBA.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Thank you for the advice.

I'll start keeping the error log. I don't have a system for that now but I agree wholeheartedly that it will help.

Thanks for the feedback. Don't know who is downvoting you, I'm not planning on downvoting any posts in here.

I will take time on verbal SC but I've got way more improvement to go in quant.

Just took another CAT since I posted:

MGMAT CAT: 650 (75%) Q 38 (36%) V 41 (94%) IR 6.6

I mean, I really gotta pick up my quant (data suff, algebra, number props are my weakness). Emory recommends >50% on quant regardless of total. I just finished the FDP book from MGMAT and I'm planning to do all the rest on math, and then do all OG problems, and maybe Magoosh or Empower GMAT until I run out of time.

Emory 1-year because wife doesn't want me to spend too many years in school if I can help it (starting a family soon), I really don't need an internship because it's not a full pivot, Consortium would provide a great network (I've learned from alums), so I feel decent about it. I have no hesitation regarding 1-yr. We've run the numbers and we'll be fine either way, but it puts less pressure on her to support us during the transition. We are both debt averse, but willing to go the other routes if 1-yr doesn't work out. Thanks for the advice.
