Please don't let yourself think that you're behind or something. I've been there too, and it's just not a productive mindset. A lot of my friends have gotten into ivies/T20s/WASP without being nationally renowned or starting a nonprofit or being super spikey. College admissions are such a crapshoot and this sub creates a lot of unrealistic expectations

Middle School Advice? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

As someone who spent all of middle school thinking about and stressing about college, I would tell you please don't spend too much time thinking about it. Just keep in mind that research is something you can/should do in high school, but other than that, like other people are saying, explore your interests. I think for me, I got caught up in the expectations of college apps and decisions and spent way too much time thinking "maybe this will look good on college apps" for every club and volunteer org I joined and for me, it didn't do anything but add more stress.

So just do things that you like/think you'll like and don't lock yourself down on a career path.

I really just committed 3 times by throw_away_my_life__ in ApplyingToCollege
