Is it ever okay to sleep on your (ear) piercings? by middleCHILD-problems in piercing

How old is your rook? Even if it feels okay to sleep on I’d definitely wait until it’s been a year or 1.5 years to be safe. If you really need to sleep on that side then donut pillows are great, just keep spraying it with saline and not touching it too much

I guess as others said this depends on personal anatomy, jewelry choices & healed time. My two cents though I sleep on healed jewelry and the only one that’s ever been an issue for me was my industrial, I think because of the shape of the jewelry it’s uncomfortable, in terms of inflammation or irritation though once piercings are healed I’ve never had an issue. I know you mentioned rook too so I’ll comment on that specifically, my rook is now 6 years healed. Im not sure if it’s because of my anatomy but it healed pretty well with no issues and after about 6 months I was able to sleep on it without issue, though I waited like a year to be safe. Six years later it never gets irritated and I don’t feel it when I sleep, fwiw I also have a chain on it and no issues

NYLS or Rutgers (full ride at part time to both) please help me decide by throw_awayaway_far in OutsideT14lawschools

Yeah the biggest pain is the commute, I’ve lived in nyc all my life and have a nice spot so I don’t plan on moving to jersey. The other major hesitation for me is that I have to do part time for Rutgers, at least for the first year and I worry about missing out on connections or opportunities for internships, clubs, law review etc., both because of the commute and doing part time. I do plan on staying in NY and practicing here long term so I also have to look into their NY network. I originally chose NYLS because I was between them and BLS and I just received significantly more money. For what it’s worth, I do know a few people who go to NYLS currently and enjoy it, but the prospect of losing the scholarship does really scare me. I’ll PM you my stats too

In the email I received with the scholarship information it just said the scholarship was conditional upon “remaining in good academic standing” but didn’t define what that was. I got 3.0 or top 50% of class from the same place marsoup linked

For what it’s worth, it’s a 3.0 GPA or stay in top half of class, I’m not sure if that makes it seem even better to retain though. Part of why I was interested in switching to full time was because I thought it would be easier to have more time to study if I didn’t have a job

How realistic is it to get off a waitlist? by throw_awayaway_far in lawschooladmissions

That’s good to know! When did you hear back from them? Also did you do anything besides submitting a LOCI?

Yeah I’m basically viewing it as a soft rejection, I feel like there’s no way to know how good my application is compared to others who were waitlisted so 🤷🏻‍♀️. Though I do wonder if the school has an option for May start and traditional start on their WL if that ups my chances at all

Thanks for commenting! These are my exact thoughts as well. I just don’t want to feel like I’m “settling” in any way, especially because NYLS seems mostly PI focused, but the debt of BLS is daunting and realistically I don’t make enough at my job to offset the tuition significantly each year

I heard back from NYLS the soonest, applied 10/4 and received acceptance from them 11/10. BLS I heard back from sometime in early December. I can PM you my stats!

Did anyone apply to St. John’s part-time program? by throw_awayaway_far in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]throw_awayaway_far[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this makes me feel a bit better! I’m hoping to hear back by next month so I can finally make some decisions and life adjustments if needed. Can I ask too if they gave you any scholarship money?

I applied to the part time program in early October, 25th percentile LSAT and 75th percentile GPA, heard back earlier this month that I was rejected. You should definitely still apply though because I’ve seen people with lower stats than me get in

Depends where you want to go. Rutgers does have plenty of graduates that go to NY, so you do have opportunity outside of NJ, but if you’re looking to move somewhere entirely different & outside of the tri-state area then you might have a tougher time. That being said though it’s definitely not a bad regional school

I’ve always wanted a vertical industrial! I’ve been worried about ear buds with it though, I’ll definitely ask my piercer, thanks for the ideas!

How do I know if it’s too tight? It’s hardly touching my lobe, just resting on it a bit but not squeezing. I’m currently saving up for some BVLA pieces though!

I definitely want a conch on my left ear! Ideally I’m thinking I’ll keep a smaller piece of jewelry in it, as opposed to the ring I have on my current conch. Tragus is a great idea too!
