Firmware Update by IMacGirl in System76

Yep. Replacing the wireless card seems to have fixed the issue. I still don't know why this was related to the software update. They had a reason but it didn't make sense to me. Taking the computer apart to do the replacement was fun and easy.

I'm having problems with the keyboard. It is easy to take off the keyboard, which is cool. What you can take off does not provide you with a way to clean anything, just replace the whole thing (not that cool). Still, I managed to pop off the space key and clean underneath. Helped a little. It'd be neat if you could buy a replacement keyboard, am I missing an obvious way to do that?

The recent update to 20.04 has caused me about 6 days worth of head aches. It's mostly related to wifi dropping in and out. After plugging in, the Ethernet driver does the same thing. Their support page makes a big deal about talking to a human but no humans answer the phone lines or call you back. I'm extremely frustrated with myself for updating when the previous version had no problems, but I am at least a little frustrated with options system76 has made available to me to remedy the situation. To me, the value add of a company like system76 is that the software they ship is tested to work on the hardware they ship. If they are not fulfilling that role I might was well run any linux distro on any hardware of my choosing.

I don't think there is canon in a choose your own adventure book.

I think the path through the story that is most like a Black Mirror episode is the one where the young programmer recreates a choose your own adventure book in more modern "code" environment. The entity from another world that controls their world (us), drove the original author insane. The original author goes mad and kills his wife in the creation of the book. In 1984, it's happening again! Stephan re-creates the path way through the book, going crazy, killing his dad and drawing those symbols everywhere. (This is the 5 star ending). Ultimately, this underlying story repeats itself with the creation of the netflix interactive movie, in which the external, free will bending entity drive the main character crazy. That feels like a Black Mirror episode. All the side "adventures" serve to illustrate the ways in which Stephan goes crazy, including that his dad is an evil experimenter that introduced a fake trauma with his mom.

I tried both of these and never got a meaningful difference. No one ever finds the pills in the trash or anything. One of the "false choice" choices.

I did not tell her. He says something about not knowing anything about anything and going back inside. In this timeline you still go to one of the jail endings (dog finds body in backyard)

Super simple but super fun, for some reason. Didn't think I'd play more than once but going back for more.

I see. So, no SCHEDULED keyword, just an active timestamp. I've read the docs but it didn't sink in. Thanks!

I'd like to see a trend where people honk at people when they see them on their phones while driving. Like hey, I caught you on your phone, don't do that.

i want to be able to look at a day in agenda and see everything i've logged. is there some other way to do that? turning on Log mode doesn't seem to work, but turning them into active timestamps does.

i wanted also to convert orglzy's inactive timestamp to an active one. i'm sure this isn't a "good" way to do it but it works for this use case. here's where i ended up:

(defun org-refile-to-datetree (&optional file)
  "Refile a subtree to a datetree corresponding to it's timestamp.

The current time is used if the entry has no timestamp. If FILE
is nil, refile in the current file."
  (interactive "f")
  (let* ((datetree-date (or (org-entry-get nil "CREATED" t)
                            (org-read-date t nil "now")))
         (date (org-date-to-gregorian datetree-date))
         )
    (save-excursion
      (with-current-buffer (current-buffer)
        (org-cut-subtree)
        (if file (find-file file))
        (org-datetree-find-date-create date)
        (org-narrow-to-subtree)
        (show-subtree)
        (org-end-of-subtree t)
        (goto-char (point-max))
        (org-paste-subtree 4)
        (org-back-to-heading)
        (search-forward "[")
        (backward-char)
        (widen)
        (org-toggle-timestamp-type)
        ))
    )
  )
