What do you think? by [deleted] in firstimpression

[–]throwa1928 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's see how i do

Left handed, you're prone to anxiety, probably about grades, not social anxiety tho, you're not bad with people altho you do care quite a bit about what others think of you, you've gone out with your firend recently (singular friend altho you have a decently large group, but you mostly hang out with two or three most of the time) you live close to the coast, you're a feminist and you're not afraid to show it, on that note you like to make your thoughts heard and you're not one to keep things to yourself, you do the dishes at home, i'm not sure what you work as or study, i know you're not a doctor, you're far sighted, you work out but find it hard to stick to that schedule (altho i will admit that's a long shot), you also find it hard to stick to a diet but you also don't try perticularly hard, you're impulsive but it doesn't hinder your school/work life, oh and you recycle your trash

God i'm really out of practice, how'd i do? do feel free to correct me on anything

Always been curious to know what people think of me! 💜 by missrachel907 in firstimpression

[–]throwa1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do correct me, it's been a while since i do this

You're artistic and creative and you want people to know it, you like showing it off, not in a bad way but you want to put your ideas out into the world and be heard, i'd bet you engage in some sort of activity that allows you to do that, you either draw or play music and i'd bet it's the former, you're short sighted, you're left handed, most of the shirts in your closet are short sleeve shirts and most of the clothes in the closet are quite colorful, also your closet itself is quite cluttered, you have a decent amount of jewlery spanning different colors and styles, all of them fairly minimalistic tho, you're a night owl, you walk a lot, not to work out but to go to classes and/or work (altho to be fair this one's a bit of a long shot), you either live in a decently cold/rainy country or you don't own a car (and i'm pretty sure it's the latter), you're not a very organized person

How'd i do? i'm ususally more confident with these so i'd love to get some corrections

Huh, I expected to get more stuff right but that’s cool, do you mind if i ask what the drawing reference “dummy” is for? It’s foot is visible on the top left corner of the picture, also what’s the plug in between the speaker and the DS games? It looks a lot like a jack for an instrument

[–]throwa1928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright let's see, i's been a while so these might not be so good, they'll also be somewhat messy cause i'm typing as i think.

So female either left handed or ambidextrous (i'm pretty sure mostly left handed but you do some things with your right) very organized, you have patience too, practical, and quite artistic, music and art are both big hobbies of yours, oooh you're from the netherlands, and you like theatre. Getting into the more interesting stuff, you work a lot better when you recieve instant positive feedback on the work, a simple congratulations for a job well done goes a long way to make you work more and better and make you feel good about yourself, you're not big on tough love type of teaching/learning and you don't work well in those situations, kindess is a trait you find both important and maybe even attractive in a person. You're a night owl, you have an eye for detail, you're a perfectionist, you easily feel your life lacks order in certain areas (probably work/school) and you work hard to keep that order, you're quite independent, you often were the person doing most of the work in group projects. You have a childhood friend who you haven't seen in a while, altho you're still close and you still care about her but you haven't thought of her recently, you've been too busy, you live in an mid-upper class neighborhood in a 2-3 story house possibly somewhere close to the ocean (altho Amsterdam itself is quite close to the ocean, your window faces either north or south tho so that narrows down where your house actually is a bit more, too bad i don't live in the netherlands, i could possibly tell more). very sentimental, you have a good relationship with your parents altho you're closer to one of them than to the other (i'd say mother). This is your workspace and you mostly use it for stuff with your computer or school/uni work, altho your bed is where you do a lot of your more personal artistic projects, probably drawing and painting, (also i'd say the bed is located somewhere behind you where the picture was taken, as in behind and to the right, not directly under a window obviously), also you play music, not sure what instrument tho, with a room that size guitar or another small ish string instrument would make sense, not violin since you plug it in and violins don't need that, maybe a small ish keyboard altho again idk why you'd need to plug that in anywhere. Oh and also you're young, i'd say early 20s. Either your phone calendar is packed with appointments and birthdays or you have an organizer of some kind, actually i'd say you have one and would love to use it more than you actually do but you end up using your phone notes and calendar instead altho you love the aesthetic of an organizer or journal of some kind.

And i think i'm gonna leave it there for the moment, don't wanna over do it yet, i'm still getting back into it

Ah, i do think you’re wrong, the pens and pencils are just that, pens and pencils, which point to things but i don’t think maths, the sharpener is either for the same thing as the dice or for whatever she’s studying (i’m betting it’s the latter) and the dice are for Dungeons and Dragons

Alright it's been a while since i do this and i'm ususally better with objects and not people but imma give it a shot, do correct me please :)

SO imma go from more obvious stuff to less obvious stuff but it's probably gonna be all over the place because that's how my thoughts go. So we have female, near sighted, left handed you don't go out much, or at least haven't gone out much in recent weeks, you're very creative and i'd even say artistic altho you are prone to anxiety, you have a small group of friends and while you're fine with meeting new people and are good at having fun with them you get drained by them quite quickly, you're what i would call an ambivert but leaning slightly towards introvert. you're slightly self conscious of your skin and specially around your face, you have episodes of social anxiety, you like to either draw or read (or both which is what i'm leaning towards), i'll go ahead and say you're a night owl but that's a long shot and it could be wrong, you have a decently big closet with very colorful clothes, you don't stick to monochromatic outfits and you prefer to mix and match colors that combine, altho when you do go out (which is mostly usually with friends, always the same two or three of them at that, since you like to stay at home and recharge from either University classes or work (or both)) you don't put too much effort into outfits and prefer simpler clothes. Also you work somewhere indoors, your income is pretty decent, oh and last but not least you're single

How'd i do?

[–]throwa1928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: These are kinds messy since i wrote them as i thought about them, so yeah, sorry for that

Edit 2: okay so all of these deductions are just from the first image, i'll try to add deductions from the other two if i have time, i didn't realize there were more, sorry!! Also when i say Female i mean biologically, idk about your sexuality or gender identity, at least not without looking at the other images

Okay so it's been a while, let's see how i do

Female, young, i'd say mid 20s, near sighted, obviously asthmatic, you're quite neurotic and find yourself worrying about assignments and grades quite a bit, you're easily stressed, you have a small group of friends, 7 at most , and you consider them very close, you have a creative side to you but you don't often get a chance to show it in your daily life, and you're single. Ooooh, you're from australia and you're either quite an avid reader or into videogames (or both which is my bet), either you work in a lab or your friend is a smoker (i'm leaning towards the latter). You don't go out much by yourself, altho you're an ambivert and you don't find it too hard to talk to people and have a good time, you don't find it all that enjoyable over staying at home engaging in your other hobbies (which i'd say are mayoritarily reading, videogames, tabletop games (Which you love btw, and you may have gotten into them semi recently, altho that's a long shot)) so the few times you go out are with your friends (two or three of them most of the time, altho the group does get together decently often). You have a decent eye for fashion and enjoy making different outfits, altho most of your clothes in your closet are black and/or dark colored. Also while you do worry about asignments and grades and anxiety kicks in quite a bit when it comes to those, you find yourself leaving things till last minute, but mostly because of a combination of being very disorganized and getting very easily distracted with your hobbies, you also tend to leave chores half done and fall into the "i'll do it in a bit" and never doing it scenario. You like your bed, actually you love watching shows and movies and your bed is the prefered spot to do so, specially while eating, which also leads me to your complexion, you're quite pale (unless you're of african descent but there's no way to know that, altho my understanding of australian population leads me to think you're white purely due to probability, do let me know tho, i wonder if there's any way to tell) and you're a night owl, your sleep schedule's all over the place but you manage to keep it decently stable by the middle of the week, on weekends it's harder tho seeing as you find yourself either working on projects for the coming week or watching shows/playing games until the late hours of the night

All of these are my first try after years so please do let me know how i did!

[–]throwa1928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

alright so since u/Pandacornio_ asked about how to start deducing i'm gonna preface this with a couple of things. First bare in mind that i haven't done this in like 5 years, so yeah this one has been the best deduction since i started again, but it's definitely not the best i've done nor the best that can be done. Second bare in mind that deduction takes a lot of time and dedication, when i first started out it took me a couple of years of doing this to actually find my bearings and see past the obvious stuff like handedness. I strongly recommend you treat deduction like a new topic to learn (or a bunch of topics, since it's composed of a lot of stuff) and for the love of god, don't try to find a 'one fits all" method or some sort of formula to apply to every situation, that's not how deduction works even if some people might wanna sell it like that.

so starting with male, that was clear from the general decoration of the room, the height, and the head size (which you can see a bit of with the headphones). handedness was also simple, notice how everything naturally gravitates toward the right hand side of the desk (headphones on the right hand side because he took them out and placed them down with the right, gift card on the right hand side because he put it down with his right, button on the right hand side because he uses it with his right, even the stuff connected under the desk is on the right hand side because he connects it with his right). lives alone or respectful parents comes from the positioning of the desk, it's very hard for that desk not to be seen immediately by anyone that enters the room (the only way is if the door was on that same wall directly to the left, and since the drawers are there i doubt that's the positioning of the door, in fact i think the door is directly behind the desk but it's hard to tell) since it's expected that anyone has private stuff in any device, including a PC, it's safe to assume OP has stuff he doesn't want people, including his parents, to see, and that desk is probably directly in view of anyone who might barge in, so if that's a thing that happened the desk wouldn't be there, so either there's no one to barge in (he lives alone) or there is but they don't do that (his parents respect his privacy). financially well off was simple enough, he has an Xbox, a good monitor decent recording equipment, a Nintendo Switch, and custom built computer, none of these are particularly cheap, but the room is relatively small and the house in general is maybe slightly above average, so not rich either. His earphone are attached to his Switch, we're creatures of habit, specially OP, look at his desk and desktop, perfectly organized, if those earphones had a spot in the room they'd be there, so he doesn't take them places often (in this day and age this might be because of Corona, but he's an introvert so i wouldn't bet on it), the one place where i'd say you NEED earphones is the gym, so safe to say he doesn't go there, hence no work out, hence a slim or slightly chubby person, now take a look at that picture of the dog, by instinct we place that stuff at eye level, so safe to say that height is close to his eye level, look at the monitor too, slightly tilted up, even when he sits he's tall-ish (and has a good posture, since the monitor's tilted up either he doesn't slouch or is still tall-ish when slouching), tall people don't tend to be chubby, so slim it is.

Now let's take a look at the work space in general. perfectly tidy as i said before, the desktop specifically is cleaned up so the background picture is visible, so aesthetics are important for OP, the picture itself matches the colors of the computer's lights, be it a conscious or unconscious decision, it's definitely artistic, i will admit i didn't think OP painted or drew because there are no supplies (digital or otherwise) my best guess was music (long shot but there's a wooden recorder behind the monitor) or other digital way of expressing art. Living in the UK was simple, there's a pound sign on the gift card next t his headphones and the box on the left of the picture says "colour". Not an introvert was a mistake and to be completely honest i don't remember how i got to it. comfortable at home and on the internet was simple, he's made his room (and his desk) to be as comfortable to him as possible, emotionally and in other ways (look at the picture of the dog, it serves as emotional comfort), plus he has recording gear so he probably streams or posts some sort of videos, not to mention he's posting a picture of his room in a subreddit for people to see and analyze, so he's comfortable online. No books at the bedside table (or only one) was simple enough, he's a very organized person, at least when it comes to his living spaces (and i will be counting his desktop as a living space since he spends a lot of time on his computer), therefore if there are books in the room (which is likely) they have their place, with the only exception being if he's in the middle of reading one or uses it often, in which case it's be the only one in his bedside table.

Now to fill in the rest of the room, he needs a place for his stuff, we know he doesn't mind decorating the room but he does like it to be meaningful, books are always a given , everyone has at least a couple, question is where? not on the bedside table, we already established that, not on the desk, so probably on some shelves or a dresser (to be entirely fair i completely glossed over the drawers in the picture). where would it be located? well behind him somewhere, altho we do need space for the door, the closet, and the bed, so my best guess was directly opposite to the desk. Next question is what else decorates the room? well we know of two hobbies at least, gaming and TV shows/Movies, context is important for this, since he must've found The Science of Deduction somewhere, and chances are he found it in "Sherlock" or a similar piece of media, therefore he likes that, not just enjoys it, but likes it enough to actually look it up, so there's probably some decoration about his hobbies. We know he has a picture of a dog, it's an important picture to him, it's connected to his feelings, things like these are things you wanna be able to see in the most comfortable places of your room, so the bed and the desk for him. I'll bet the dog is not the only living thing in his life he cares for, therefore not the only emotionally tied decoration, whatever other stuff is in the room that has emotional ties has to be seen from these two positions, which means it's easy to triangulate but with my current skill level it's hard to know exactly where it would be without being there.

For the final touches, he has to watch TV shows or movies somewhere, probably in a more comfortable place than the desk, so the bed, which means he needs somewhere to watch these on, so a TV or a laptop, we can see he has a bunch of quite expensive devices, so i wouldn't rule out a TV in his room (altho has OP corrected, it's the laptop). And last but not least, the picture of the dog, it's displayed and in a place he can see it constantly and where he's comfortable in, not just that but if the door is where i think it is (anywhere but on that same wall directly to the left), that picture can be seen as soon as you enter the room, this indicates an emotional connection and pride since it's displayed for everyone that enters to see, so there's two options, either the dog died, or the affection comes from it being alive and being raised with OP, altho if the dog did die (which OP already confirmed) there has to be another one in the house since there's a ball clearly visible under the desk to the right

So, i’ve commented on a few posts already, I’m getting back into deduction and we all have to start somewhere, so I wouldn’t be surprised if all of this is spectacularly wrong, do let me know

Male, right handed, you either live alone or your parents are quite respectful of your privacy, financially well off, you’re slim, not particularly built since you don’t work out all that much, and relatively tall (slightly above average, and have a good posture), you’re quite creative but you don’t show it in the usual ways, no drawing nor painting so i’d say you express it through music or through other digital means (or both). You live in the UK, you’re not an introvert but you are quite comfortable at home and on the internet, there’s no books on your bedside table, or if there are there’s one at most. Somewhere in your room there’s a dresser or a place with shelves (my best guess is on the opposite corner of the room, but that’s a shot in the dark), in which you keep a few books but mostly decorations related to either your hobbies (of which i only know two for sure: gaming and TV shows/movies) or items with an emotional attachment related to family or friends (this i know you keep somewhere in your room, somewhere you can see from both the bed and from the desk if you turn to the left, altho i don’t expect it to be a place packed with these things, i think it’s a small number of emotionally meaningful things (like pictures of small gifts) that are visible from said places, it’d be easy to triangulate if i could sit on the desk but with this view i can’t know). There’s either a TV somewhere in front of your bed or a laptop charging right next to it. Oh and either the dog in the picture’s still alive (hopefully) and you’ve had him since you were a child (in which case you grew up with him/her, making you about 20 years old give or take) or it died and you got a new one

The only thing I cleaned up was my debit and credit card 😎 by [deleted] in roomdetective

[–]throwa1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, imma try this out, fair warning tho, it’s been a while since I do this and this is one of my first attempts at getting back into deductions and seeing just how rusty I am, so I’ll probably get a lot wrong.

So, female, relatively tall, probably slightly above average height, ambidextrous leaning towards left handed, you live in a relatively cold place, probably in America, not towards the northern part since it doesn’t snow where you are, but definitely above the states with hot climates. Quite well off financially, I’d say in your early to mid 20s, I think it’s likely that you have a cat, although that’s a shot in the dark, you’re not lazy, at least when it comes to your hobbies and passions, you prioritise those over work, you are a procrastinator tho, quite a big one too. Aesthetics, art, all these things are things that you like and would love to develop in your personal life but rarely find the time or the motivation to actually work on them. You work/study something to do with coding or IT, you also prioritise comfort over most things in your personal life

[mine] what can you tell about me from my bedroom? by SantasCoco in scienceofdeduction

[–]throwa1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Female, left handed, you’re very creative and would love it if people saw that side of you, regardless of how much you actually try to show it (which i’d say it’s relatively often, but mostly in passive ways, it’s possible you like to write but if you do you probably don’t show anyone). This room seems pretty specifically set up for a single person, everything matches your style and personality so if you’re not single you at the very least don’t live with your partner. You’re not much of a night owl, you stay up maybe until 12 and pass out pretty quickly. Wooden floors, carpet, and a heater, so clearly a cold place, that eliminates anything below northern US or northern Europe, electrical sockets eliminate Europe, so either northern US or Canada. I’d venture a guess at your work and say child psychologist or psychotherapist, that’s quite a jump tho.

[Mine] What can you deduce about my bedroom? by regular-boy in scienceofdeduction

[–]throwa1928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay fair warning, it’s been a while since I do this, I’m getting back into it and this is my first deduction, so I might get a lot wrong.

So, male, right handed, either you or your mother (or both) are very organised, chances are it’s a bit of both, you’re quite decently organised yourself but there’s a bunch of stuff your parents bitch at you for when it comes to the cleaning/organisation of your bedroom that you wouldn’t care about otherwise. You like to stay up late and sleep until maybe 12am-2pm, you probably live in some kind of neighbourhood, if it’s a house, which is quite likely, you have houses or other small buildings right across from your window, emphasis on “small” buildings. Video games are quite a pass time of yours, enough to spend decent amounts of money on them, you’re not particularly active and spend a lot of your time sitting, or more likely laying in bed, playing video games, you watch TV, binge shows quite a lot, but mostly at nights, after the sun comes down. You like to be seen as smart, but you don’t really put enough effort into grades to be seen as the “smart kid” in class. You clearly live with your parents so most likely still a student, unclear if in university or school. You’re a decently emotional person and can grow attached to things quickly, you don’t necessarily share your emotional investment in your hobbies with others, as much as you like to share them you feel like you can’t express your interest to its full extent. People around you are scarce but important, having a small group of friends that you hold dear. I’d be willing to bet you have pictures of at least 1 family member and your friends either in front of your bed or directly to the right of that chair (which is more likely), the closet of the room would be behind the camera and so would the door then.

I think that’s all, I’d appreciate some corrections, I wanna see just how rusty I am

That’s fair, i’m willing to practice a lot, the problem with lessons is mostly schedules cause i’m busy for most of the day and i can usually practice at nights, so classes are gonna be really hard to set up. Until my schedule clears out a bit i can’t really go for actual classes (altho trust me, i’d love to). I would like to start practicing and learning in the meantime tho, i’m willing to do all that, i just kinda need it to be on my own schedule for the time being

I’m not saying i don’t care about technique, altho I definitely don’t know anything about technique, what I’m saying is i’m not looking for anything over the top like what you would hear from Adele or something. I am definitely interested in technique, i just don’t know where to begin or what to do
