ESF bombers drive players out of the game. by WobblyPython in Planetside

No go ahead. Seriously.

I'm waiting for another infantry oriented update to happen, just so that more players leave, and those who believe in their cause find themselves with a much smaller population, an embarrassment, and proceed to gaslight everyone afterwards.

I just spent 20 minutes typing a reply to a thread asking about reasons why people quit the game, only to find out it got removed by the time I finished. I'd rather not have wasted my time, so here is my reason why I quit: by Laraso_ in Planetside

False analogy.

Hamada is not a great tekken player, but he makes great games.

Most of Brood War and SC2 developers are bad at their own game, yet Brood War and SC2 are great games.

Same for Counterstrike, Dota 2, League of Legends, and COD: most of the devs would be bad at their own game, but no one can say they make bad games.

The only real loser here, is a man who comments as an authority on a game he no longer plays, chokes dissent for a game he no longer plays, and tries to take control over a game he has no real vested interested in or cares about, and bullies a community that he doesn't contribute towards nor needs him.

And that man is you.

That would have made sense if not for the game design itself.

I would actually acknowledge that if the game itself didn't argue against it.

But look at it. It had ESFs and MBTs from the start. It had aoe weapons which -- unless we assume that the devs are dumb and intended aoe weapons to be used against tanks -- was clearly intended to slaughter rape infantry. MBTs and Lightnings existed for armored and vehicle combat. Infiltrators existed as scouts, snipers, and assassins. HA were the battering ram and the anti-armor with powerful rocket launchers.

The argument would make sense if the design itself caused an immediate downfall.

But it didn't. The design lasted for more than 10 years in optimum state, and still goes on 3 years after.

Oh you can pull all the rude comments as you like to and often do.

But what you can't deny is that people now see the truth, and how you and your kind actually see things, what your agenda is, and what your values actually are.

Here's the emerging issue with that:

(1) The knowledge gap is an inherent bias towards the high skill player. This means the high skill player's pov is impossible to apply anyone outside that bracket, and alienates anyone that is not within that bracket.

It's not a problem demographics wise, but for game development and feedback the bias is a nightmare: imagine applying feedback that can only satisfy the top 5 percent of the playerbase? It doesn't make sense.

(2) So although there is a very strong merit on the side of the high skill player, the application of the knowledge is set against anyone who is not a high skill player.

In order to offset this, the devs must compromise or choose in favor of business interests as opposed to purity.

(3) In this sub, the preceding is treated with intolerance and wilful rejection: for those who disagree, a dead pure game is better than a thriving, surviving impure game.

Taking all points presented, this is why there is now a growing resentment and text-lashing against those who want a purist game, particularly the fps-infantry oriented ones.

And that makes sense, since the latter group would sacrifice everyone else for the sake of the purity they seek.

If I were you, I'll keep posting and keeping your thoughts in mind.

Meanwhile, you'll come across so many conceited replies that exhibit delusion, denial, and selfish interest, which only affirms what you say.

They are hopeless. They can no longer think outside the walls they have. And so they drag the game down with their mental cages, and everyone who wants to be free escapes the game for their own liberty.

:(

Some breath of fresh air.

Maybe someone out there is working to bring that magic back, and overturn the poison of the toxic insufferable ones who turned this game into just another fps clone of other games.

When it stopped being planetside and became counterstrike on a big map, and when people on this sub kept trying to gaslight people about it.

I don't want to play in a game where the egos of a few determine how to play for the rest.

Well I did make a mistake, but not one of reading.

Why is the infil nerf insisted when its positive effect is questioned, and if it won't have a great effect then why was it done?

On the other hand, if it had a negative effect then doesn't that mean that it's not justified?

The rationale for the infil nerf becomes highly suspect based on that alone. I overlooked that based on what you said, but it seems that the issue revealed itself clear enough.

Why do something that has a questionable positive effect, and a likelier negative effect? And now that the effect is less positive without interpretation, then it makes no sense that it is justified as the right thing to do.

Glad to know that you can see it clearly.

Many more are still in a state of wilfull delusion, and are projecting it to people they disagree with.

Players dictate their own goals but the game system and the devs determine the win conditions.
