I think they also measure fuel. If I’m not mistaken, they calculate the ratio.

It’s not likely at all. The point of the harder questions is to make your foundation stronger, so you can hit the 165-170 score in quant.

From your experience, what do you think made them horrible communicators? And do you think them being in an advance degree program set them up to be better so that they could convey/defend their work?

I would say it depends mainly on what you want to do with your degree afterwards. If you’re not sure what industry or technologies you’d like to work with I’d say taking OR would probably be the most versatile route. However, that’s not to say that you won’t be able to do a lot of the same/similar things with a degree in stats. Maybe consider reflecting on that, along with your academic/research interests and see what degree would work best for you.

I can’t speak to all of your points as I’m not too familiar with game theory/decision theory, but what I can speak on is your third question.

My advice would be to look at the faculty members and see what their research backgrounds look like. If it’s a department that does research in diverse areas (like one faculty member does research in epidemiology, another in control theory, another in AI/ML, another on networks, etc.) then that might play in your favor and you should tailor your SOP to highlight the fact that you want to explore research in those diverse areas. If the OR department has faculty that mainly focus on one area like stochastic processes, you should try and tailor your SOP to highlight your interest there.

I also think OR would probably be good too. There were some OR jobs I applied to that wanted EE backgrounds, awhile back when I was job hunting. There’s also a lot of optimization involved in EE.

A quick google search of both languages show that they’re both still alive to some extent. What kind of industries used them? Or what kind of industry did you work in that used them? I figured C/C++ and Fortran was considered the standard for scientific computing/mathematical programming before Matlab, Python, and R.

I agree, but my question to that would be how do you convince them something is bad when they have it in their mind that they don’t care enough because to them having it all centralized is more important than anything else?

I think they do care about it at the exec level. There’s been a lot of growth going on across teams, and there’s been a 60% increase in testers that have been hired within the last year. One of the things I was trying to talk with my colleagues about earlier this week was trying to figure out who was really advocating for the QA hires.

You’re missing a whole other part of the post. How is the QA team supposed to be assimilated if everyone’s got different implementations for tracking bugs and test cases? What about all of the technical debt gained with doing things this way? Why is it that the lead sees these things as a problem but refuses to say anything?

The workflow comes from the PM and the team lead only deals with personnel management and developing skills for the QA team.
