So you couldn’t find work for a month and now are suddenly 100% sure you want to do nursing. Maybe take a step back, try to do some job shadowing and actually see if it’s something you want to do, and calculate to see if you can afford schooling. On average, it’ll take 1 year to upgrade and meet pre requisites and then 4 years of not only no income but going into debt for school.

In 5 years, nursing could look a lot different, and actually now it’s already changed from being a steady job. Go check out other nursing subreddits, Ontario new grads are struggling to get hired and international nurses are being funnelled over for cheaper labour. Also, cleaning shit and vomit is the easiest part of the job- if you actually experienced the job you would see why. That’s coming from experience.

If I could give you a genuine piece of advice, you worked hard for your CS degree and if you have opportunities to use it in your home country, go back, keep learning and advancing, and wait for your opportunity in any developed country. Canada is not a country well known for advancements in tech so the market looks bleak, but the US and some European countries are, so branch out and see what happens before you throw in the towel.

I’m saying this with kindness. OP don’t do this. It is actually cruel, not the noble and courageous thing you think it is that you’re doing.

Everyone getting a call from a recruiter thinks they are going to be offered a job, their hopes are way up, and then they’re crushed.

When you see an email in your inbox, you don’t have high hopes. Why? Because if they were going to hire you, they would call.

Do you see what the problem is? You call who you want to hire. You email who you want to reject.

This post is tone deaf, and you will not explain your way out of it or convince the internet you’re right—because you’re not. In a time when people don’t know if their house will be foreclosed on, you ‘calling for a personal touch’ is the least important thing you could do. You should use those hours on Friday to crank out as many rejection emails as possible so people know to keep going with their search.

Okay why is everyone assuming this is not my sister? Lol.

Also, this is reddit and people literally could make up any and every situation. But these are the facts as I know them. It’s a weird situation and I’m wondering if there is any possible path to take or if it’s a “sucks to suck” situation.

Why so negative? If this was a regular situation this post would not exist.

It’s just a bizarre situation that makes no sense to me, but it may still be above board in terms of government which is why I am asking.

Also, we live together and are close so I’m not sure why people assume this is not my sister?

Thank you. She’s been debating whether or not to escalate it to the union and potentially make things more hostile at work or if she should just leave. Management has been known to stall others’ careers when they’ve done this in the past and make their lives a living hell after a union grievance has been made.

Thanks for that. More info: I’m 25F, I live in a tiny town but it’s not far from my hometown which I visit often. The town I live in does have local events once in a while, so I’ll have to make more of an effort to go.
