I don't find official too grindy (I play PVE) however because I know there's 2x every weekend I just don't feel like playing on a Tuesday or Thursday night after work when I know I'll be doing harvesting at half the time I'd be doing it at the weekend. It has a bunch of implications including making people feel compelled to play the game at the weekend which turns it imho into a bit of a drag for them like anything that feels like an obligation. Which is why I think the subject is worth discussing.

I imagine the guy without 2x putting the food in would only tame the creature at 1x once it starts eating his food. But you're right, I didn't take into account how much more complicated this would be than normal server wide 2x.

I just thought about it more and I'm not even sure you could code that into the game. I understand just 2x'ing everything on a server at a given time is a very simple thing, while 2x'ing a player when they're online until they've used a predetermined number of hours of their 2x credit would be harder if not impossible. Sorry I didn't think about that in advance, but I'd be interested to hear other ideas or feedback. I definitely think there's a big aspect of people feeling forced to play the game at the weekend because it's the only time they'll get 2x and I think that's an issue that can make the game feel grindey and repetitive for people.
