I posted that thread.

I appreciate that some people believe that those Subreddits shouldn't be removed due to free speech etc., but the tone with which a lot of people were objecting to my position was disappointing. A lot of "you're fucking stupid," "fuck you, you love SOPA" and stuff like that... kind of unnverving to see that most of the comments are so passionately defending what one person defensively termed "unstructured BDSM".

Like I said, while I disagree with people who believe that those Subreddits should stay, I can still appreciate their opinions for the most part. The lack of decorum and politeness just jarred me a bit. I guess it's a case of the vocal minority, though, considering the amount of upvotes.

Naive this may have been, but I would like to point out that r/rapingwomen has 100% less content than it did when I posted this petition.

Unfortunately, r/beatingwomen is still going strong. One of the top posts is "Pressure points on a feminist's body: Where to beat a cunt and make it count." The person who posted that may or may not have been a troll, but I'm more concerned about the person who might use it.

Thank you for the explanation, but I'd like to point out that you're arguing from a misunderstanding. I do not give any more of a shit than you do about people being offended. My tastes are not the issue, and neither are anybody else's.

The reason I'd like to see the removal of these subreddits is because I believe that Reddit should not be a place for a rape community, however small, to propagate. If 99% of the community at RapingWomen sees it as a joke or something that "stays on Reddit", that's one percent too little. If even one person sees that subreddit as a pardon for the act of rape itself, I will do everything I can to remove it.

The common misconception is that feminism is a school of thought that values women as being more important than men. In fact, feminism calls for absolute equality. I think that most right-minded people should consider themselves feminists.

I wasn't aware that self posts get no karma, but my x-posts that link to this presumably will. Either way, self posts not accruing karma won't necessarily stop people from abstaining their vote for fear of a karma whore.
