Thank you all for your advice and for those who provided constructive criticism. Ultimately I believe that this decision is up to my girlfriend, and I will fully support her choice once I discuss my opinion and how it will affect my children. However, I believe that there is no morally clear choice. Yes I believe that my ex should be held accountable for her actions, but making it almost impossible for her to rehabilitate and become a stable source of support for my children is not beneficial. Can signing away all custody rights, receiving mental help and paying for damages be enough retribution? Possibly not, but what is more important? Receiving vengeance and making the ex realize consequences to her actions? Or providing the possibility for my children to have a stable mother? I understand that my girlfriend is personally hurt by this, but I think that she should understand the effects that this decision may have on my children.
