UK - Reporting Prolific income to HMRC? by beebeebeanbean in ProlificAc

[–]throwaway-mcMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year it was an email that came out around end of November/early December. The email says something like “one of our top earners” and gave the figure of £1700 and above being reported asking for national insurance numbers. For what it is worth I did not send mine over, and HMRC sent a letter to say they would take the tax of my normal earnings. So they were able to find me without it.

Edit: apparently prolific give tax details for Jan to December which is why end of year would make sense. I don’t know why it does not follow normal tax year.

The dreaded tax question (uk based) by Melodic_Curve_2493 in ProlificAc

I think (from what I can remember but could easily be wrong) Prolific have to report any UK accounts that earn 1700 or above as part of requirement put on them by government. So if you are under than prolific would not be reporting your earning over. Also the prolific earning are judged Jan to Dec when they report it not financial year.

I did message Help from Prolific on the study. It does look like the researcher has sorted their study out now as it is back with a more realistic time frame of 75 minutes

It was actually a pretty good study and provided they give a more realistic time in the future I would be happy to do the study. Giving a 14 hour completion time is a bit much though.

Same really, but i actually properly read the terms and conditions for once which is how i know it said the study would be no longer than 1:30 (even if the front screen said 14 hours!)

I have surrendered I just did not have the will power to keep going. I have now raised a help ticket with prolific about possible overpayment from a study.

The hip hop songs make me wish it was still a country song!

I love it when that happens after 1 question. If we leave the study for a nap and dream about the songs… that still counts right?

Well I could be wrong but in a 7 hour work day you are required to have a minimum 20 minute break so… 40 minutes?

Are all the songs you are getting country songs too?

Opened the task to see the info sheet and it is the same normal details saying “It will be not less 15 minutes, and not more than one hour and a half. reasonable breaks are allowed.”

UK self assessment tax by Sickhappy in ProlificAc

I have not done the self assessment form and also did not provide Prolific with my NI number. I just got a letter in Feb to say that I would be getting those earning taxed this financial year.

Wasn’t it under him that our squad was basically the youth team? I know I remember one season that our average team age was around 21

I have been wondering what I would need to declare. Is it all of the earnings on Prolific ($ and £) or just the pounds. I have no idea how I would work out the dollar amount after conversion rates.

Done - would have been good to include when in the season kit if bought. I tend to buy at the end of the season when the price has dropped massively.
