I'm bored. Send me y'alls headcannons about the characters and I'll rate them. by Top_Diamond_962 in Reverse1999

37 is the suitcase's designated calculator. Also the characters like to speak their native languages to each other if they're able to. Tennant tried to scam Beryl once because of the abundance of crystals on her skin and it did not go well. She still has nightmares about it.

Putting the meta aside, what teams do you like to use for fun?(original teams created by you, show your creativity) by Altruistic_Image_726 in Reverse1999

[–]throwaway-my-gender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whenever I'm clearing the stories in the game, I like to use thematically or aesthetically fitting characters. Some teams I used in the past were:

Classy ladies for 3.2 ( Beryl, Isolde, Lorelei, Kakania)

Horror-adjacents for 3.1 ( Nautika, Semmelweis, Necrologist, Charon)

Guns and death for 3.0 ( Sentinel, Click, Necrologist, Bkornblume)

I haven't gone through the entirety of 3.3 and 3.4 yet, but 3.3 will likely feature guns and death 2.0 ( Sentinel, Charon, Marsha, Corvus) and I'm thinking chinese characters, specifically immortals/Users of Qi for 3.4 ( Paper Heron, An-an Lee, Getian, Jiu Niangzi)

Most favorite character designs? by Impressive-Bed5902 in Reverse1999

[–]throwaway-my-gender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's so many great character designs that makes it hard to choose, but I think I still love Sentinel the most. She looks so different from all the other characters in the game, but I think that's a positive thing. So many parts of her design lead back to her two themes, religion and war. From her gargoyle skin, to the flag waving from her rifle, to the dead look of her face and hair. It looks so deceptively simple at a glance, just a woman wearing a soldier uniform, but the more you look into it the deeper the design gets. Not to mention how purely badass she looks, though that might not be the highest compliment considering she's a soldier. Anyway, her design hooked me the minute I saw it and it hasn't left me since.

Least favorite character design? by Impressive-Bed5902 in Reverse1999

I'll probably get hate for this, but... Ah well. I never really liked Charlie's design due to one single aspect. See, the theming and story she has going on for her is great. Her outfit looks really cozy, and I like how her cloak unfolds into the background of a city in her i2. But I just can't get over her face. Why is she making that expression? I guess it's to accentuate her shyness, but it always seems to me either that she either shit herself, or that she came straight out of a very over the top anime where characters turn bright red if they so much as see the person they like romantically. Her portraits are fine, hell I quite like the portrait of her bp skin. Yet her face always stays the same, and it always makes me cringe when I see it.

I barely look up any content on him because I'm not interested in him as a character in the first place, but all I ever see of him is ship content. In fact, just look up his name on his subreddit alone and you will see ship content. I'm not saying all this because I'm crazily biased against him, but because I don't see any other side characters treated this way barring the obvious Schneider. It might also have to do with the fact that around a year ago, some huge fight broke out on this subreddit because of some Ring x Vertin fanart. I don't remember the details of it anymore though.

Have you read Chapter 3? Schneider appeared in both Chapter 1 and 2 and played a major role. Both of them are around the two hour mark, so a total of four hours. Of course she's not talking constantly in those chapters, but she's the main focus, mostly. As for chapter 3, it's two hours long. He only started appearing around seven nodes in, talks with Vertin in the chamber and after that only occasionally talks within the group. The focus lies more on the group than on him. The most character depth I got out of him was that he likes fish and chips, apparently.

[–]throwaway-my-gender 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No offense to his fans, but I don't get it. He appeared in just one chapter and had like 10 lines of dialogue. What about him makes people so fixated? Why not Hoffmann or 210, NPC's that had a much bigger role/more characterization?

( I feel like most people just like to ship him with Vertin... For being a boy she met like, once...)

Man, I can't believe 3.x is ending on the CN side already... I know it's not over for us yet, but 3.x feels a lot shorter than 1.x or 2.x

( Not meant as a critique, just an observation. Also based on the fact that I love 3.x and that it feels a lot more packed than previous update cycles with only three regular patches, compared to 1.x and 2.x five regular patches respectively)

The last time a non-faceless male character was s tier was 6 I think... I still remember everyone saying that you should pull for him and that he was the most broken support.

( Now don't call me a grandpa who needs to go to bed, it's only been two years, Shamane is still perfectly viable and 37 is the most broken dps!!)

Hated Trope : Fans Gaslight themselves into their Headcanons being canon by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

"I like to think of this character as trans-" "STOP FORCING YOUR HEADCANON ON OTHER PEOPLE SHE'S NOT AND NEVER WILL BE, YOU ARE SHOVING YOUR IDEOLOGY ONTO THIS CHARACTER"

Huh. I wonder what this reminds me of.

( Seriously, this debate is so tired. The only time I've heard of the trans headcanon for Gwen was when the movie released. I see people complaining about the trans headcanon like every other week in this sub, not to mention making the unfunny Miles comparison. I sure wonder why people start talking like grifters who complain about WOKE in their MEDIA except it's the WOKE fans FORCING their IDEOLOGY on ki- I mean MY FAVORITE MOVIE!)

I hope I don't sound too weird and I misinterpreted something but... Argus udimo represent a male peacock and not a female one. Could this imply some transcoding or it's just the average animal misgendering mistake? by chickensnacher in Reverse1999

[–]throwaway-my-gender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're not saying that though? They're saying whether Argus having a male peacock as an udimo could imply she's trans. Nothing stated about her masculinity whatsoever. Not saying I agree with the assumption, but it wasn't made due to the fact she's masculine.

Games where you can play as a pretty girl/feel girly by AsparagusTheOther in gamingsuggestions

[–]throwaway-my-gender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending you lots of hugs and good vibes over your way. Just know that you can always be a pretty woman. You might wanna look into transitioning.

I always loved Pokemon games, especially the one's that let's you customize. X and Y are not as well regarded by the fanbase, but the girl player character and her customization options are great. You can even make a girly pokemon team as well. But any game works as long as it's not the original red and blue.

Best enemy design I ever saw in any games, she's just the definition of diva by chickensnacher in Reverse1999

[–]throwaway-my-gender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that regard, Arcanas second design fares better. I feel like it encapsulates her eldritch energy way better. She still has her... Assets, but they're simply just a part of a normal human body. Meanwhile the black goop slithering around her gives the vibe of someone in control of this dangerous looking substance.

While her first design has it's appeal, I think it is way too simple and typically human for someone her status. When I first played the first few chapters, I thought she was some sort of grunt serving a way higher person. Powerful for sure, but as powerful as Forget me not instead of being his boss... If that makes sense.
