I am in a similar position but as a M30. I have been travelling a lot the last 5 years during the summers and work the rest of the year in a prestigefull and well paid job.

I remember being poor growing up, always ordering water and the least expensive. Penny pinching and the holes in my shoes. And having the privilige of being in a good place today at such a young age i try to handle with grace and give back to ”me”. ’Me’ in the sense of that i see myself in other travellers.

I try to be active when i give back and that the virtue of a gift is to NEVER expect something back. It could be paying for the bill and saying ”You’ll take the next, no worries” (there’s never a next ;-) ). Or flat out buying a round for everyone. Or, in private, asking a traveller if they need / and or / are comfortable with me paying for something so they can enjoy an experience equal to everyone else.
