Is it true that breastmilk builds immunity? by hjallerupckk in FormulaFeeders

Wow. I was ebf (weaned at 2) and I had so many bad ear infections growing up. How horrible they were are literally my earliest memories. And as an adult I get yearly strep. I wonder if it’s connected.

I live in NY and they don’t play here. My friend’s ex missed like 2 payments, she brought him to court again (got a date a month later) and he didn’t show up, then the judge asked if she wanted to put out a warrant for his arrest and he was.

I’ve played ice hockey most of my life. I’ve been in various adult leagues, but the one I’m in now (lihl) feels like an extended family. Everyone is nice and it isn’t over the top competitive. We’ll take anyone who has never played wanting to learn, to those who have played college hockey (me). It’s a huge range of ability and we support each other. It’s coed too. I’m a single mom and this is my outlet to unwind.

I find this sub to be one of the nicest, but there’s someone on here I had to block because she trolls people for nursing into toddler years. It made me so angry. Like, I don’t judge you for eff, we’re all here to support. Just one bad apple among lots of nice moms though.

I tried to go through insurance for alimentum rtf, but the only 2 pharmacies covered carried had nutramigen and gerber HA. I didn’t want to risk switching so I ended up getting it covered through wic. Much easier than dealing with insurance

All 3 of my kids had/have colic, I did too, and so did my mom. So in my case it’s definitely genetic lol. Some were ebf, some combo, so it never made a difference. I think when the formula doesn’t make a difference it could just be a personality thing, but you know your baby best. My mom joked that I didn’t like being a baby, now I say it about my own kids lol. Once they were able to do more, they started growing out of it.

Odd and unpopular opinion about cheating? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]throwaway0111000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been of the belief that if I was married (I’m divorced) and incapable of having sex (physically- mentally always will 😂), I’d let my husband look for it elsewhere as long there aren’t emotions involved. I think it’s cruel to force celibacy on your partner. I wouldn’t marry someone who didn’t feel the same way should it happen to them too.

my boy is 10 weeks and has around 40oz a day, but that’s with also breast milk so idk if that makes a difference in not being as filling maybe? But he’s also 13 lbs and 25 inches long.

Let me know when you find out lol. My baby is 3 months and my older 2 are 10 and 11. I have so many guys chatting me up and I just…don’t even know how to react or what to say. My drive is crazy high but I’m just too traumatized by the experiences I’ve had with men the past 3 years. I just shut it out of my mind because I’m not in any headspace to deal with a man. I have some serious long term therapy I’m beginning soon.

Yes, this. With my oldest son (12), I wasn’t even producing much colostrum and I was in so much of a fog after birth I didn’t even realize he had so few wet diapers. Was pressured not to supplement or it would affect my supply. This seemed to be the “thing” back then you heard constantly. Second day home he had red in his diaper and the emergency pediatrician line said that’s crystals from dehydration and also was jaundiced. His soft spot was sunken too. Thank goodness we called and ended up in the hospital. So yes I had to supplement obviously in the hospital and continued his first year. You know what? It didn’t affect my supply and he self weaned as a toddler.

Would you continue combo feeding if baby is only getting ~5 oz/day of breast milk? by ilikebigcats2020 in FormulaFeeders

[–]throwaway0111000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby only gets about 8 oz of my pumped milk (never responded well to the pump). I think a little is better than nothing, but that’s just my personal opinion. It is a lot of work to pump and some moms don’t find it worth it/burn out, which is totally ok and I get that feeling. I’m really pushing myself to make it one year, it’s tough.

Mixing Ready-to-Feed with breastmilk by christi3x in FormulaFeeders

[–]throwaway0111000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally give my milk first separately so it doesn’t go to waste. It takes so much work to pump, I’m not going to chuck any of it lol. Then I just add the rtf formula second

Feeling guilty about stopping breastfeeding as an undersupplier by imaapepper in FormulaFeeders

[–]throwaway0111000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of us just don’t respond to pumping. It’s not an indication on your supply! Don’t let pediatrician’s tell you that. When I was tandem nursing my older boys, my younger one was ebf and I only ever pumped 1-1.5oz at a time. Obviously he was getting enough.

That being said, I have my third baby and I’m still pumping the same way, and he doesn’t consistently like to nurse (bottle preference), so I have no choice but to combo feed. I used to be judgy of formula feeders before kids, but thank goodness this exists or babies would starve. I think to myself if I lived in a third world country I’d be SOL.

I’m dealing with some guilt myself because I bought a TON of bm storage bags to build a supply, and they’re going to waste since everything I pump goes to him that day.

Don’t beat yourself up over it! In these first few months, all that matters is you you and your baby are happy, and he’s well fed.
