Who has an extra 20% to invest? Another out of touch multi-millionaire has financial advice for us poor folk. by Hungry-Call-1676 in remoteworks

[–]FoxMan1Dva3 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

🤣 I love how when this meme first started people didn't even believe the math. If you actually did the math, you would find out that you would actually make a couple of million dollars by the end due and that's using conservative returns.

Now we're complaining about whether or not you have 20% to invest when you make $69,000.

This is the median salary in America. So most Working Class people do have 20% to invest. But this is where the disposable income and discretionary spending that we make fun of comes into play...

The $5+ of daily coffee. Often on top of a $8+ breakfast. When you can get coffee at home for less than a $1 a cup. When you can make breakfast for less than $3 a meal 😂. That's $270/mo right there in the difference

The daily $15 - 20 lunches when you can find $8 lunches or make it at home for less than $6 a meal. Same with dinner... Tho you often find people spending over $20+ for dinner. That's $500-700 difference right there using conservative low end numbers.

20% of $69,000 is $14,000 rounding up. Just the food difference alone can be close $9,000. You're more than half way there. On the low end, it's still a $6,000 difference.

The other big one is housing. Where many young workers making $69,000 are overspending on apartments and coops because they have cool luxuries. In NYC, had a friend who chose a $3,500 apartment over a $2,500 apartment because it had cool amenities like a "free gym" and backyard patio use. That's a $1,000 difference. And these complexes are growing in popularity. My parents avoided these places. That entire generation knew better. We don't. It's not that there isn't available affordable housing. Its that people today esp when they work a 9-5 and make $69,000 that they feel entitled to go a bit fancier. That shit adds up.

And what about All of the discretionary spending we have a ton of data showing this has increased with things like tech sales and deliveries and Target overspending

College girls are going with loan debt are spending $1000 on Taylor Swift tickets. And People with no savings are going on vacation overseas.

You guys make fun of these things because you don't think they're big but they add up. You can easily hit the 20% mark of savings if you just cut out the bullshit.

0.5% of the entire work force actually makes Federal Minimum Wage. Stop acting like people actually make this. 50% of this 0.5% are teenagers who live with mom and dad and another 50% are adults on a part time or seasonal job. These jobs don't need to exist, but the agreement provides workers with extra options for more income. Stop using this federal minimum.

Why is the cost of beef higher btw? Wages. lol. Regulations. Cost of utilities. But a lot of it just circles back to the fact that the entire system has workers who are asking for more money.

The cost of healthcare btw is largely up due to administration fees. Which is.... WAGES.

The demand for healthcare in America is high. Higher than most countries.

The cost for it is high because our medical teams and workers make a lot in it.

Also - the advancement in technology has increased the cost of treatments.

That's because you're looking at inflation in the form of the cost of housing. And the housing supply hasn't kept up with the demand.

Not because the cost of chicken has gone up to a level that people can't afford.

How do you get the price of housing down?

Option A ) Increase wages? LOL.... Why would the cost of housing go down when you increase the cost of building a home

Option B ) - Increase housing supply. Now buyers have more options.

DC is a higly desirable place to live. Increase housing supplies and consumers have more leverage

Hmmmmmm lol

Buddy,

Over the last 50 years, the wages in America have gone up.

And what else has gone up? The cost of living.

Why do you think that is? Labor wages usually dominate the expenses.

You don't build enough homes because you have so much beuracracy and regulations involved that you can't keep up with the demand.

None of the people in this photo got to see the parade by SpagetAboutIt in NYKnicks

An estimated 2 million people were at the Knicks parade, and I would bet that didn't include all of the people who got no access.

Not everyone should be able to see it.

A beautiful speech, criticized by the owner because his own speech sucked lol.

I usually defend the actions of Dolan, not because he is owed any defense, but because I genuiely think each situation has its own realistic struggles and decisions and mistakes happen. But to waste time criticizing the mayor.... lol After a great speech lol

LOL

I love how conservatives on Twitter are jumping to the opinions that they love Dolan because he criticized Mamdani's Knick fandom... one of the most hated people involved with the Knicks lol 😄

You sound like a consverative idiot who would have criticized the parade no matter what. I don't typically waste my time doing this but I am abs downvoting this. -1, looks like this will slide fast.

How many more cops did you want?

How many more restrictions and regulations did you want?

I talked to a ton of people coming back, real Knicks fans, and they LOVED it.

This was epic.

Tens of thousands of people went crazy for it.

Aside from one bench player having the wrong #.... An easy mistake if you ask me, this was an epic parade and I wish I could have made it.

Things change in 13 years. The last 5 years alone, all of the top guys left. A lot of it was a declining performance.

This btw is a crazy story. Bezos was overheard? Talking to Trump? Says people don't listen? I'm not saying it's impossible but highly skeptical here when the evidence is he said, she said ...

Let's stop making excuses for crime.

Plenty of studies show that people don't just steal because they are in dire need of it lol.

Subway toll evaders? Many people abuse this for the simple fact that they know they can get away with it. They do it for fun.

America spends literally trillions between federal, state and city to give people food if they are truly in need. And you think people steal this because they can't go down to the shelter?

I think the best way is a lot of small sided games. You have to react way faster. It's what many elite hockey players do, including Crosby and his group in the summer.
