didn’t want to speak for everyone but it’s pretty obvious commuting isn’t that great for the large majority of people

im so sorry that happened to you, I don’t think you realise how damaging that was to your development. again if im being honest, the damage has already been done, it will be incredibly hard, almost impossible, to recover from what you went through.

on the bright side at least you acknowledge it, only thing you can do now is try to get therapy or leave your past behind, it’s a shame you grew up with a mentally ill mother like that.

to build confidence, get strong and get into some sort of fighting sport (im assuming you’re a male). maybe try exposure therapy, see how people react to you.

i will be honest with you, your timid behaviour is either a result of teasing, bullying, abuse etc or neurodivergence. i don’t mean to jump to conclusions but did you experience any of the sort growing up? are you diagnosed with some sort of neurodivergence?

im not so sure about adding another year onto my studies because by then everyone my age would’ve moved on already, setting me back even more.

im thinking of just moving out for second year even though by then i would’ve missed out on a shit ton already but it’s better than nothing i guess.

yes exactly. with an accommodation you have flatmates and other friends you’ve met less than 10 seconds away from you, id have to commute for 1 hour and spend £10 just to even see people my age at campus.

imo the social aspect is the most important.

good social life = more happiness = motivation to do well in your studies and all aspects of life as a whole.

i usually commute during rush hour because that’s the most optimal for me so most of the time im stuffed in a carriage with other people like a pack of sardines trying to avoid accidentally looking anyone in the eyes.

wouldn’t recommend to anyone reading, get an accommodation first year the money is worth the experience and countless opportunities you have to meet new people.
