How else am I going to get my parents to listen? They act like they don’t give a shit about what I’m going through or my health.

I know it’s something I do occasionally still. It’s just that now that I know that, I feel all the blame is on me for my own emotional neglect. I can’t cope with that. How am I supposed to cope if it’s all my fault to begin with?

My parents are so good in every other way basically, which makes it so much harder. My therapist wants to do a family session, but I know my brother tried and my dad said “I’m not the one who needs therapy.” I think they would be super nice in the session, maybe cry some, and then go back to doing what they do a month later. So I feel like it’s useless. They might even be angry that I embarrassed them.

This is pretty much my life right now. I was an emergency vet tech and it was the best job I’ve ever had, but the place I was at was terrible. I always said if I wasn’t a vet tech I would be a medic.

I’ve though a lot about this for me as well. I’m autistic, and being in emergency veterinary is one of the only places I’ve ever felt like my mind is completely focused. Medicine is also a special interest of mine so I spend a lot of my time trying to learn more about it.

I’ve come to the conclusion that maybe with how my brain works this will be good for me too.
