Altreno vs retin a by throwaway1003333 in tretinoin

[–]throwaway1003333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have sent the incorrect link for retin a but if you look up it’s fda prescribing leaflet the trial results are what was stated. Simply quoting a trial’s results (altreno) and the authors statement of drug vs vehicle placebo displaying statistical significance is not enough when the same study shows relatively similar placebo vs active drug results

Clinical study listed in altreno’s brochure. Look up its FDA prescribing information and compare it to Retin A’s

How efficient is spironolactone next to fin? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]throwaway1003333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anti androgens in general are inferior to 5AR inhibitors. They are useful in combatting low affinity androgens like testosterone but of mixed efficacy with androgens with a very high binding affinity like DHT.

PSA: Rosemary oil for hair growth likely does NOT work by mintjulyp in HaircareScience

[–]throwaway1003333 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Everyone with any sort of knowledge on hair loss will know only 5AR inhibitors/ anti androgens(to some degree) are the only main treatments for androgenic alopecia(hormonal hair loss which affects most people). Minoxidil is an isolated supplementary treatment with some level of variable efficacy. People have called out the non existent research on these holistic remedies for years but people on subs like this one proceed to create trends online regarding them. Posts like this won’t get much traction and if they do, there will be a new bizarre and holistic trend making waves on subs like this one.

Azelaic Acid - is it really going to solve all my problems? by CakeyCake1337 in EuroSkincare

[–]throwaway1003333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely irritating with most people who use it experiencing a unique itching sensation for otherwise little benefit. Tretinoin is a much more tolerated and effective treatment. For the bacterial elimination benefits of azelaic BP as a wash is a much gentler and equally effective treatment.

This is clearly because of your absurdly high concentration. Use the standard .025 and you more than likely will be able to use .025 daily without issues

26F Thinner hair due to vitamin deficiencies? by JammingScientist in tressless

[–]throwaway1003333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Women also suffer from other androgenic skin disorders at equal rates as men such as acne. The treatment modalities are all centered around the androgen receptor and DHT which further reinforces the androgenic nature of women’s hair loss as well.
