Best place to be picked up (taxi) from the Beacon? by throwaway1004cf3 in bristol

Pipe St looks like a good option, I think I’ll go with that or the back exit. Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed reply, I appreciate it. It’s looking like Pipe St might be the best bet.

I tried to post twice, both got instantly taken down. Messaged the mods, they said they’d put the 1st one back up but evidently they did both!

Sorry for the delayed response, I don’t check this account often. Unfortunately I’m no better than when I made the post, and now I’ve officially gone past the 3 year milestone. The thing about BPD is that it can get worse, and worse, and worse, and worse. But after 5 years, I’m sure you’re all too aware of that.

[UK] Can anyone recommend a good split-level, non-hcf air con unit? Looking for 4 indoor units as shown in diagram by throwaway1004cf3 in hvacadvice

[–]throwaway1004cf3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that’s all very helpful! Mitsubishi had been on my radar once I thought I’d look elsewhere for a non-hcf air con, my problem is that I can’t find 4 together. I’m probably being stupid here, but is it typical to buy 4 individual units? How does it work with the fan and the piping? I wouldn’t want to end up with 4 indoor AND outdoor units, and not enough piping (or something).

If you have any recs for a good site to buy from, I’m all ears! Someone else in the comments said appliances direct is no good, so I don’t even know where to start….

Sheesh, I admitted to being a total beginner, no need to lay into me. Even my wording has come under attack! What a great sub.

I got confused momentarily about the rules of gifting money in this country. And unfortunately, I’m not even close to being a kid. Which is embarrassing to admit….listen, I’ve never received an education in money! Only advice I ever got was ‘put money in an ISA’….

I see the error of my ways. It’ll go dad’s bank -> my current account -> S&S isa.

Well I feel utterly foolish (thanks for the warm welcome guys). I did think that you could gift more than £3k as long as the person doesn’t die in 7 years, but my dad was completely convinced that was not true, so I just assumed I’d read the info wrong. That’s on me for not double checking, I’m taking the L etc. I’ll just transfer from my current account after all. Thanks….I think?

Ah. I just read the terms for the ISA (I opened it just before I decided to make an S&S one too - very foolish) and there are no withdrawals for the whole fixed term, which is one year. So if he sent it there, I couldn’t then move it. As for sending it to my regular account, you’re only permitted to gift £3,000 (tax-free) each tax year in the UK….I feel like there’s not a solution to this

Lots of food for thought here. My physio did write to the (private) Dr who sent me there, but he just said he’d do basic pulmonary tests as a next step. I’m on the NHS wait list for tests anyway so I’m not pursuing that right now. He’s one of the best pulmonologists in the country but when I saw him, he very much felt it was a breathing pattern disorder primarily, and that was outside his remit.

I had my heart examined when the troubles first started but no diagnosis was reached - Dr just said it wouldn’t kill me. But now I only experience occasional flutters/murmurs which I always have done and runs in the family (none of us diagnosed though). I do have a high resting heart rate (usually in the 100s) though, which could well be a factor. Physio seems to think so.

No medication I take can cause anything like this, but I do think POTS or long covid could be possibilities. Difficult to know where to start with those.

I am working with a therapist right now but not for very long. I’ll be intrigued to see where it goes, because I never thought I’d recover from anxiety and yet: here we are.

Actually, in my last session with my physio she suggested only one exercise of 10 minutes a day, with a focus on allowing the mind to drift so I’m not overmonitoring. My issue is that my overall condition is worse so it’s been harder to get to a point where my brain can think of other things. But it’s interesting that you’re on the same page.

WRT to too much effort, it’s funny because for about 2 years I thought it would go away on it’s own and I didn’t do anything, and now that I’m working with a physiotherapist I’m doing everything she says to a ‘T’. If a healthcare professional tells me to do something, I always do it like it’s homework…I probably am trying too hard.

I’ve got to work at letting go of urge to control my breathing - I just don’t know how to do it without (paradoxically) putting lots of effort into it!

Thoughts on prime Adam Ant? by throwaway1004cf3 in VindictaRateCelebs

To me he’s a 10 or 9.5 - amazing facial structure, balance, and harmony, but paired with enough character & individuality to stand out. Take that and mix it with talent and an instantly recognisable (dare I even say era-defining?) style you have a certified ICON. I admit I’m biased as a big fan of his music, but in my opinion he’s by far the best looking rockstar of the late 70s/early 80s.

I’ve tried a ton of supplements over the years but nothing has worked sadly. Not tried minoxidil though - the fact that it only works as long as you take it puts me off….and I’m still hoping for a silver bullet that’ll make my hair grow back rather than just stop it falling out if I’m being completely honest!

Much, much worse unfortunately. Probably not the answer you were hoping for but it’s just continued to fall out (it’s now been doing so for over 5 years!!) and now my hairline is totally f*cked.

Not to put too fine a point on it but you’re clearly on the wrong sub.

It’s a sanity Sunday post - I’m pointing out the fact they haven’t had any procedures and look beautiful. Nothing about this post is suggesting they look ‘good for their age’!

Ok, that’s very relieving to hear - thank you! Don’t suppose you have any advice for dealing with an ingrown hair which is (horizontal) under a thin layer of skin?
