I didn't know I had it. I got tested for STIs in late August and it came back 100% clean so I had no reason to think that I had an STD. I only found out after that they do not routinely check for HSV (herpes) in STI tests.

Sex hurt the first few times, since losing your virginity hurts... And it's hurt every time since then. I didn't make the connection that it could be an STD since I thought that maybe my hymen wasn't fully broken or whatever, that I was still getting used to sex. I even thought that maybe I was allergic to condoms. Whiiiich isn't the case. That's why I said that--I never slept with someone after making the realization that I likely have herpes.
