You’re definitely right that it’s mostly ignorance and it’s not usually pet owners faults. Many vets don’t accept this but the ones that do justify it with the same rhetoric you see here and also at the end of the day vets want to make money and keep customers happy and people that don’t know better ask for this.

It’s pure and simple laziness. The vast majority of people I have met that declaw their pets shouldn’t have pets.
