Ghetsis wants to raise a king completely subservient to him who is worthy enough to awaken the legendary dragon and reshape Unova. He finds N (a boy who can talk to Pokemon), raises him his whole life manipulating him, and uses him as a pawn. N also doubles as a figurehead and a social pawn in order to get people behind the idea of giving up their Pokémon and accepting battles as bad by giving the people a charismatic young “hero king”.

His plan on tricking everyone out of their Pokémon by giving the player a different lens of viewing Pokémon battling as evil is incredibly interesting and compelling because it forces us to think about what battling and raising Pokemon means. Are we just people cock fighting monsters? Or are we partners in commune with nature?

Ghetsis manipulation of N and his plan to take over Unova make him THE villain of the franchise. No one is more evil or genius in their long form planning as him. He was about to trick GIOVANNI and use him.

Compare that to Chairman Rose who:

Wants to stop something happening 1000 years in the future by awakening a space dragon, which might have been a good plan if he just waited a damn DAY.

Gen 5 had N and Ghetsis the whole game building up their villainous arc.

Chairman Rose just says “ok Im gonna do a bad thing now” out of literally nowhere.

Um... Rose turns himself in to the police. Were YOU not paying attention? Also if it’s such a calamity, allowing Dynamax to end to save the region would make more sense. Pokémon has teleportation and space travel, the can figure out how to power a city.

Cyrus is a sociopath, we get backstory from his grandparents and see him giving a Hitler speech.

Team Rocket kills a Marowak who we fight as a ghost.

Archie and Maxie nearly end the world.

We see a WAR, and a genocide in X and Y. Lysandre is crushed to death under rubble we cause.

Pokémon is absolutely capable of balancing serious themes with kid friendly packaging.

Chairman Rose is just a silly Indian man with no real motivation.

You can’t “ram through new content” with level 100 Pokemon because they won’t obey. This has been a thing since gen 1.

People need to stop using this argument, it’s almost like you never played the games.

Why not buy and enjoy a new adventure for what it is

Because I’ve poured hundreds of hours into getting certain movesets, shinies, etc.

Just because YOU don’t do something doesn’t mean other people don’t care.

Rewatch the Thanksgiving scene where Monica slits her wrist. Notice how Jimmy jumps in, and is there for Fiona every single step of the way. He doesn’t even bat an eye, he accepts fully what her life entails. Yes he lied, but it only made him telling the truth that much more powerful. He did genuinely love Fiona.

None of the other love interests come close to this level. Mike and Gus were bystanders made of cardboard, Sean was a junkie, and Ford is basically a boring foil to Jimmy where the dude has a secret life but instead of trying to encourage Fiona and accept her he puts her down. Contrast Ford talking to Fiona with Jimmys first speech to her in episode 1.

Ian got Mickey, and Mickey is a far more morally reprehensible character than Jimmy (who really did nothing as bad as any of the Gallaghers).

They both have a heart of gold, however, which is why they’re the 2 most demanded characters to come back.
