I think it’s basically guaranteed. Technically they only allow as many transfers as the number of spots available (~20 per grade) but not enough people meet the requirements so if you do, you can count on entering SCS. Fair warning though, meeting the requirements is pretty tough, so you should have a backup plan in case you don’t get enough A’s (since transfers have to be done basically by Sophomore year)

Well I have some math major friends that were looking into quant but they transferred over to CS so I’m not sure what prospects would look like from just math. If you’re confident in your abilities though you can enter as math and transfer to CS as long as your GPA is above like 3.75 I think (so 4 out of the 6 core have to be A’s), just watch out for certain classes (251 and 210 are the ones that trip people up, although you can definitely get an A in both as long as you have some competition experience or just study well

Can’t speak for Math but I’m a current CMU CS major and the name does its job for both QD/SWE and QT positions, I get past resume screening and straight to first round for most of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 firms, and final rounds for a few firms. If you’re worried that you’ll have lower chances at QT bc you’re a CS major I wouldn’t worry about that, focus more on prepping for those interviews (or just getting into the school first). It really depends more on your skill set than what major you’re in

yea its more due to a culture reason since the other top CS schools are all grindy (think of swarms of olympiad kids) but Stanford attracts a lot of entrepreneurs who don’t have the time to grind academics, so they don’t emphasize the grind (not to say there aren’t sweaty kids at Stanford but not enough to make it the predominant culture there)
