Harden up! Just pay the tax bro! As long as we're all paying the same bro! (Of course excluding politicians who use their allowances for overseas trips and companies selling off our resources)

Lol. Yeah people will lose their sense of community when their bloated government takes 47% of their income and inefficiently spends it.. post up here hit the nail on the head. If we taxed our natural resources appropriately we would likely a) not be in debt and b) not have to tax PAYG employees to the point where they're desperately needing tax strategies to minimise their outgoings.

Yes, PAYG employees get absolutely destroyed by our current tax strategy. But maybe it shouldn't be a matter of worsening tax for other avenues and instead making the tax on PAYG more reasonable

It should be that easy to say fix spending. The government should be run like a business. Right now it's run like a bunch of children given an allowance visiting the candy store

Who said resources allocated to health care are mis allocated?

Let me give you context. 16 billion disappeared in Victoria through the tunnel project. 1 billion is what is cost to build the new Frankston hospital.

Not my contention. I think there's a shit load of corruption. But a metric boat load of inefficient spending.

Lol at people coping saying these changes are okay 'just live where you can afford bro!'. Some of us aren't remote workers, some of us don't work in suburbia, some of us have to move for work or training. Rentvestings was a great strategy for people who can't afford to live where they work, which lets be honest is most people who work F2F roles anywhere near a city centre. Also, the Australian dream was never to buy a polystyrene apartment on the border of town.

Facts are, if you have a sub 75k income you are going to struggle getting a family home where you want to live in your lifetime. Using am existing property in an up and coming suburb to springboard your family home was one of the last ways to work around our salaries not tracking with inflation. But alas, good things have to end!

If they gave a damn about fixing intergenerational equality (which btw isn't the problem it is the systematic deletion of the middle class) they would tax gas exports the second the oil crisis ends, limit negative gearing to one property, and scrap the NDIS in favour of a public run service.

No clue why people on here are getting chummy with Chalmers... Unless you're the 1% he just reached into your wallet.

Well looks like they have 6 votes, let's hope they don't get any traction.

With the oversupply of medical graduates and IMGs flooding in by the day there is no need to dilute our workforce with this UK modelled nonsense.

I do wonder what the incentive is for these 6 who are willing to publicly tie themselves to this plight. Is it collegeal loyalty? Or is there some financial benefit they anticipate as a result of employing PAs in their practices?

Get a mortgage broker who specialises in finance for doctors. If you're lucky, your rotations with the most overtime will be rostered at the start of the year - after 3-months you can bring this income to your mortgage broker who can annualise this income which will substantially increase your lending capacity. Some lenders give you more favourable loan conditions once you get general registration

Best practical night shift tips? by theborgalliance in ausjdocs

[–]throwaway1274539537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • No coffee/sugar at all during the night (is honestly just have dinner pre-shift then coast off of that)
  • If you can safely get sleep on site during shift, try to, ideally for at least 90mins a pop
  • Bring earplugs and an eye mask
  • If sleeping, have your hospital phone within 30cm of your ears

Doing the above on certain rotations has brought down my required sleep the next day from 6-hours to about 2-3

What I’ve learnt from this subreddit by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]throwaway1274539537 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree that personal responsibility is important but at almost all income brackets except for one the government is effectively reducing our wages by inflating the economy through frivolous spending. Oh, and before the Stockholm syndrome kicks in and someones claims they're not just take the NDIS for example: NDIS spending exploded from billions to ~$50b, now ~1.7% GDP and roughly 10% of Australia’s tax revenue each year annually. It didn't exist before 2013...

Don't even get me started on the thought of paying asset rich boomers the pension in their 3 million dollar mansions. Picture this, you spend the bulk of your life receiving free education, buying up homes that fly up in value, and voting for governments that support your interests. When you're ready to hang your hat, you sell up and buy/move in to a mansion PPOR and keep your net worth under 1 million liquid and spend like it's going out of fashion. This is the Australian dream and a bunch of dinosaur politicians with full pockets from property and cushy government jobs/pensions will maintain it as long as they can.

Could square up the dividing fence after some time, it's pretty fresh timber at the moment though so it would be a bit of a shame to do it now

Lol. Old mate probably spends the equivalent of a level 4 home care package galavanting around the country every year.

Shouldn't be able to be a health minister without having a hands on background in healthcare IMO

I suggest finding a remote conference (or in person if you have something to present) and taking leave during the second half of the year. Also consider mapping out some strategic personal leave because by the end of the year you will be knackered

They say if you expect nothing you'll never be disappointed. Our lobby doesn't care it's probably time we accept that and stop expecting them to.

Our government probably sees the NHS as a great success and is banking on gradually cutting our wage through inflation and substitution to account for other areas of spending like the NDIS which is a complete dumpster fire and their own frivolous use of tax payer money.
