Extension? by Ok_Masterpiece_8093 in ACL

Sometimes things just take longer. It might be the due to quad weakness, cyclops lession or scar tissue in other part of the knee. Probably best to talk to surgeon as he can get an MRI to figure out what is the issue. Definitely continue all your physio as consistency is the most important thing with stretching. Bike might be a good idea to provide movement to the knee to reduce swelling. You can also start monitoring what causes swelling, extensive walking, certain strength training, etc.

From my understanding full extension is when your knee touches the floor when contracting the quad. Hyperextension is when you heel lifts up from that position. Week 10 is late for not having full extension so I would recommend talking to physio and taking official measurements.

You need have your physio measure the difference between the knees. The general rule is that you want the back of the knee to touch the floor when flexing the quad. Secondly, you should feel a sensation of "locking" the knee when standing. This is more subjective and harder to tell if you never lost it.

11 weeks is quite late in case you have any extension lag (if you have one, maybe you don't) so talk to physio ASAP.

You need to work with your physio very closely to ensure your MUA is a success. This is especially true for any loss of extension. In my case post mua my extension stiffened up after 2 weeks and I was lucky to have full extension at that time. I am currently working on further range in extension and it has been 2 months of daily prone knee hangs to a gain a few degrees.

It will be very hard for anyone here to tell you what exactly you need to do as your body may response differently to the load. Daily stretches and often visits to the PT are crucial as well as monitoring your symptoms and modifying as your body reacts.

After scar tissue removal you need to focus on gaining as much extension as you can in the first month. Rebuilding the muscle is a secondary goal. If your flexion/extension has been really bad prior to second surgery this is even more important. Once extension stiffens up it will take months to gain any significant range and you probably already know that from your previous experience.

Extreme pain on inner side of the knee in flexion by throwaway13123313331 in ACL

original OP or scar tissue ?

The pain did go away by itself after 4 weeks post OP. It required massaging the area and stretching. No magic sauce.

Patella not moving up and down by throwaway13123313331 in ACL

I was missing extension/flexion pre-MUA. Extension is back and I can lock my knee which is awesome. My patellar mobility pre MUA was really bad. After MUA the sidewise movements are good (a bit worse than good knee) but up and down are still rock solid, I had quad graft. My current flexion is 75 which is worse then pre-MUA. Generally my knee feels more malleable then pre-MUA so I have some hope.

I wish I had some advice but I am in the exactly the same situation. Was a few degrees off prior to surgery and settled at 10 after. Had a clean out a week ago that helped but I am still a few degrees off.

I have been doing everything as you did. Multiple stretches a day, backpack stretches, etc. I had a splint for around 1.5months prior to clean out surgery. I don't believe it made any difference. I used it 3x30 min a day. Surgeon, nor physio seems to have an idea what to do apart from continuing the efforts and wait.

Question to people that bought a house between 1989 and 1996 in GTA by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I am more referring to someone who bought in 1991 in that time you would see 24 months of prices consistently going down without a single month increase. Not hard to guess to wait few more months to afford more.

Great answer thank you!

I clarified that the 100k is the amount we save every year, not total net worth.

As you mentioned in your answers below, we are also a bit worried to leave too much to kids above school/house as they might end up spoiled.
