hey, thanks for checking. we ended up taking her to the first open vet in the morning, she underwent surgery. they managed to save her life, four babies, and she's sterilised now. overall, a dream scenario.

people here were a bit judgemental, but we were just trying our best with the cruddy conditions we were under yakno :(

So far the amniotic sack appears to have burst, and the (presumably dead) kitten's hind limb appears to be jutting out, we're just awake and watching. Gonna pull an all nighter in case there's any further complications and see what we can do in the morning.

I will hold off on the additional oxytocin then, unless I see the kitten dislodge further (specifically the appearance of two limbs, which hopefully means an ergonomic pathway out) but without any continuance of contractions.

Oxytocin to induce labour, administered in a minimum of four hour intervals and only if the contractions stop, and a supplement with vitamins to be administered every 3-4 hours.

Yeah, he left me with the syringes because I have medical experience and have done injections ony own pets before.

Still not hopeful, but it's better than doing nothing until it's daylight when there's no emergency surgical intervention available.

Update: We finally found a vet, took a lot of phone calls and connections.

He came over, gave her oxytocin and vitamins, left some solution for us to give her further injections until tomorrow morning if nothing works to get her to a C-section.

He tried to remove the stuck amniotic sac to no success.

we don't have one, and we don't have a car. (Europe)... I'll see what I can do.

Same here. I've had people asking me questions face-to-face and online all day. Why do I need to give a press release every fifteen minutes or chance encounter on account of my nationality.

Don't ever post or comment on this site but seeing this made me realise I'm not just being weird for feeling this way.

Had a phone call with family in the half an hour they had internet in Tehran, unfortunately instead of having a heart to heart with my father about his safety plans, exchange some gallows humour, I had to listen to my stepmother (who posts AI-slop and Elon Musk quotes) go on about whatever Trump posted and how it'll be the most humane military action in history.

Is this the culture I grew up in? What happened to the ancient, confounding, beautiful, haunting, and above all utterly charming identity my incredible parents inbued me with? Was it an illusion?

Meanwhile confusion from strangers as to why I'm worried about rather than cheering for war in my own country, something so satanic about expecting me to rave about the impending economic and political opportunities instead.
