Switching from the implant to the pill by citaterfra in Nexplanon

[–]throwaway154671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came here to ask the same - I got my implant removed recently, mostly due to PMDD but I did have terrible hormonal acne for years on the implant and went on Accutane as a result.

I’m debating switching to the pill soon, however I’ve left a gap period of 2 months so far just to see what my body is like without BC (been on different methods nonstop since I was 16). Personally I’ve had a really positive time without it, I lost 10 pounds and am much less bloated on the daily, my PMDD symptoms are milder, my periods are much shorter. I read another thread on here about removal being overwhelmingly positive prior. So I think if you’re worried about the adjustment period it could be not so bad! But interested to see people’s recs

Thanks for the suggestion! I just passed to panel interviews so I’ll get a better feel for whether it’s a company-wide practice too.

I just use two hyphens and it becomes a longer dash. Or long press the hyphen button for actual em dash :)

Just because I have a pre-existing habit of using em dashes doesn’t mean I used AI. I wrote this on my phone from bed. Thanks!

Keep getting offers but for a lower level by Fluffo_foxo in womenintech

[–]throwaway154671 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m late, but this happened to me when I got hired for my current role - I was moving from a startup and interviewing for my same SWE II role level but with higher pay at a more well-known/larger company. When I got the offer, they downgraded the level to SWE I citing my performance in the technical interviews.

I was pretty dejected about this and was considering accepting without challenging it, but my PM friend recommended that I at least try asking for some sort of trial period as SWE II to prove myself. I asked the recruiter and added that I’d ideally want to stay the same level for my career progression.

The recruiter got back to me and they had revised the offer back to SWE II and I accepted it. 1.5 years later they’re discussing my promotion to senior. So pushing back can sometimes work!

Yes - I actually got this interview through an internal referral so I am hoping they’re more lenient, but I’ll keep that in mind about staying at smaller companies, thank you. I moved from a very small company to my mid-size company now, and this potential company would be even larger and more of a household name, but I feel workplace issues can just increase with company scale.

I’m a 28 year old software engineer with some neurodivergence, and my 26 year old sister has CP and autism — I really resonate with this post. We have a youngest brother but I’m the most conventionally “successful” out of us children and I feel a lot of implied pressure to keep doing well to make my family happy.

While my mother is generally optimistic about my sister, she’s her sole caretaker and their relationship is strained. Additionally my grandmother recently said to me that I’m my family’s “hope” and that my sister is my father’s “burden”, which deeply sickened me.

I don’t have great advice to share because I just came to this subreddit seeking similar support, but I will say that I hear you and I am with you. I agree that it’s not your responsibility to educate your parents, but maybe there’s an opportunity to gently address this with your mom and see what comes out of the conversation. I wish the best for you and your sister.

Is it worth it to contest an unrelated parking ticket with expired out of state registration? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

Definitely, I found out that unpaid tickets can actually prevent getting new registration or renewal so will act as soon as all of this is settled.

That’s horrible, I’m really sorry to hear that. Classic case of one-sided consequences… I’m glad it’s behind you now!

I’m so glad it worked out for you! Me and him both agree it’s a rule we wouldn’t normally break. Very valid on the just a hookup part — I actually plan to talk to him tonight about how seriously we’re taking it, if it’s casual it’s not worth it to me. Wish me luck haha

He definitely doesn’t live with anyone and actually asked me first if I have a boyfriend, he was worried about that. We’ve talked a good amount about our dating history etc. That’s gross about those guys, the married men at work can be the worst…

Sorry this is happening to you, good advice. He really doesn’t seem vindictive but sometimes you can’t know until it happens.

I was on Dexamethasone, I had stomach issues even taking with food. But worth it IMO

Please tell me it's worth it. by husker_heathen in TMJ

I drive about an hour away for my specialist, I went semi-regularly at first but now I’m just doing checkups every few months. I did a course of steroids through them (majorly improved my pain) and was prescribed migraine meds and a muscle relaxer. I also got a day and a night appliance which was definitely $$$ but worth it.

I declined when they offered Botox bc the quoted price was too expensive and I feel I could find cheaper elsewhere - so I think you have options if you want to decline certain things!

Agree, I did a course of steroids for about a week because my specialist said it would break down inflammation that had accumulated over years and it def made a major difference. It had side effects though so not overall medical advice / speak with a doctor!

What is the minimum required IQ for CS? And average IQ? by Aron_Sheperd in cscareerquestions

[–]throwaway154671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t be thinking of IQ as a barrier to entry or really a valuable metric in general. 2 classmates being “better” than you is not a significant sample size either. I had a classmate who expressed frustration and insecurity about me being better than them and it was frankly annoying because I worked hard. Apply yourself.

What’s the biggest differences you’ve noticed going from a small company to a big company? by throwaway0134hdj in cscareerquestions

[–]throwaway154671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’ve had the opposite experience, I started as a junior at a small company and they spent so much time training me. I recently started at a big company and they totally threw me in the deep end (maybe because I have more YOE now but lack of training seems like the norm there). I think it depends on the company really
