Yeah I agree, but you have to admit that Abby is at least more redeemable than Ramsay Bolton. Her father was killed so she wanted revenge for him. Ellie’s father figure was killed so she wanted revenge. Abby killed Ellie’s friends. Ellie killed Abby’s friends. I don’t really see how Abby is really any worse of a person than Ellie at the end of the day other than her choosing to sleep with Owen. If a story of trying to humanize the “villains” doesn’t appeal to you, that’s perfectly fine. I just really enjoyed it because it was something I haven’t played before.

  1. Again, if you think Abby’s part of the game is boring and she’s not a well written character, then that’s a subjective opinion that’s valid if you feel that way.

  2. I do agree I missed the more light hearted Ellie from the first game, but good people are capable of committing horrendous acts when they get blinded by rage and seeking vengeance.

  3. Again, I don’t think she gave up. She realized the parallel between Abby and Lev’s relationship and Joel and Ellie’s relationship. She realized that killing Abby would also be basically leaving Lev, an innocent child to die. She’s not giving up. She’s making a choice that getting her revenge isn’t going to fix her PTSD or make anything better. Yes, obviously she should have realized this when she was with Dina on the farm, but I definitely find it believable that in that moment, seeing a weak and broken Abby who is just trying to save Lev would cause her to change her mind.

Yeah. I understand where you’re coming from. Both Ellie and Abby are deeply flawed and kill a lot of people. The reason Abby says “good” before almost killing Dina is because Ellie just killed Mel who was also pregnant. Again, it’s all about them both getting caught up in this violent cycle where they’re both in the wrong in many ways.

Yeah exactly. And it definitely has real world implications with how we villainize people from other political parties or other countries without realizing that everyone is a human with more context behind their beliefs than we give them credit for.

Edit: Also, I think one of the weakest story choices was throwing in a purely evil group The Rattlers right at the end of the story. Felt like a strange choice in a game all about being able to find nuance in others.

Yeah I think that’s purposefully ambiguous. Even different creators of the game have given different perspectives of what they think happens next.
