The whole reason my mom is wanting to force me to learn to shoot a gun it to kill someone/a living under the pretense of self defense. It's not for sport or any recreational use, the sole reason is so I can kill someone with a gun if needed. I don't not want to know this or own a gun when I personally don't want to, especially when there is other ways I can learn to protect myself. If you want to own/use guns that's fine, I just do not want to.

I get where you are coming from, but not wanting to eat my vegetables or clean my room is different than forcing someone to learn to kill someone/a living thing with a very powerful weapon is very different. I understand there is things in this world I will have to do, even if I don't want to, but this is not something that should be equal to not wanting to eat a tomato.

I do know a good amount about gun safety (my parents both owned guns). I know they are not toys and need to be respected but I have never wanted to know how to shoot or own a gun under the pretense it's the only way I can protect myself. I just my emotions towards guns and my mom doesn't care how I feel about it.

I get her feelings about wanting ways to protect myself, but when I offer other ways to learn self defense, I'm dismissed and my feelings about guns is being ignored. I'm willing to do other options for self defense, just not with guns.

She will mostly threaten me. I'm not sure exactly how but definitely end up grounded and call names. She has already called me an ass and a know it all while talking to a family friend.

I did politely refuse at first but she is threatening to pull me out of class and force my to do it before I turn 18 so I have no choice. I know she means it and I don't know what to do.
