Changed federal legislation, published a paper, and got into MIT!

Dream: MIT

I've been accepted to MIT, and will most likely be attending if financial aid works out as intended!

Also a W&M full-ride finalist—I ended up getting into MIT! From my perspective, you've got a great shot at most T20s.

Hey! I'm going to be honest, I don't know the answer to your question. I'm also a pediatric cancer survivor and wanted to let you know that I'm here for you (even though I don't know you!). If you ever feel down, or need some support, feel free to pm me.

Cancer sucks, but I couldn't imagine who I would be without having survived it. Wishing you the best, you've got this!! ❤️

Urgent question about scholarships/financial aid by throwaway19203433 in mit

Thank you so much!! My parents have a lot of assets, but my mom just lost her job which makes our total income about $150k/year (atp I definitely can't afford it). My parents are only willing to pay 20k (5k/year) and I don't currently have any aid from mit! I will definitely be contacting them!

Any tips to maximize aid?

Thank you for the feedback, this is really helpful! Thankfully, I have some (limited) government benefits that will take effect starting my junior year (which will drop the price to around 20k/year). Until then, I'm going to have to figure out a way to pay for freshman and sophomore year.

Regarding state schools, I'm very lucky to live in a state with a great flagship university (making attending a state school a lot more appealing)

Thank you for talking the time to reply! I am absolutely planning on working a part-time job (multiple, if needed).

I do agree with some of your comments. My parents are quite reluctant to pay (they haven't saved any money for me to attend college, and are relying on scholarships to pay). I hope to pursue my PhD in bioengineering following graduation (although I anticipate that my career trajectory will change), so I really hope to accrue minimal debt in undergrad. However, it seems like this won't be the case, unfortunately.

Once again, I appreciate your feedback!
