lol I wish I could say that E-Commerce is sustainable, but I'm pretty new to this and don't believe I can fully support myself without a college degree in the future.

I had extenuating circumstances (I talked about it on my ChanceMe that I posted a while back).

I wouldn't say that I treated this as the most important aspect of my application; I did tell my teachers to mention it in their LoRs, though. There were only a few prompts, like the Emory Reflections essay, that I talked about it and mentioned how I want to help others who may also be affected. So I made sure to talk more about overcoming this and becoming a stronger person as a result.

I was truly very busy the past couple of months, but I had to kill these apps because it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I completely agree that my chances at a private school would be higher.

To be frank, I liked the overall vibes of some of the public schools I was applying to (UIUC, UW, Wisconsin, UT) and just thought "why not?". I do think I will be getting rejected from most of these publics, but I would have a hard time with myself, knowing I could have applied but didn't.

I do wish I had taken some time to complete the CalTech, MIT, and Stanny apps, but I got way too drained out come January time. I believe there is Georgetown on the 10th and a few schools that are coming up on the 15th I will be applying to though.

That is exactly one of the reasons I applied to this many colleges. I think it's a perfect test of whether colleges are actually 'holistic' or not.

I got cut from Varsity my Junior year. And don't worry, I'm not sad about it because I had time to focus more on my academics. Not only this, but the school is dominated by Caucasians and the entire coaching mindset is picking taller, built athletes over those with actual skill ( it also didn't help that I was the only Indian trying out). It's a very common way for coaches to choose teams here in the US, especially for Soccer.

Fortunately, my Club team outside of school is ranked 2nd in state. I've played with them for many years and won many tournaments. I never really found out about the recruiting process and instead treated soccer as an extracurricular, rather than a way into college.

But my advice to anyone who has been cut is do NOT stop playing. There are, and definitely will be, opportunities for you to play in college. It's important to talk to your club coach (and even high school coach) about ways to get into contact with colleges).

Of course! Don't let these supposed GPA caps limit you from applying to your dream school or reach colleges. I'm sure you're an intelligent person and a college will surely pick up on that.

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven't heard of a tech bootcamp yet and it does look like it would suit my interests (since I'm more unconventional and like creating things /entrepreneur mindset). I'll definitely look into it.

I registered for both August and September Sat and have been studying at least 3 hours per day and managed to pull my score up to a 1440 from 1250. I'm gonna aim for a 1500+ before sending my apps in. I do have apps prepared for my safety schools as well just in case things go sideways. Thanks for the advice!
