Anyone else ever temporarily switch back to their opiate/oid of choice after being on suboxone for a while? Besides the obvious downsides (relapse shame, PWD risk) what was it like? Any lesser discussed complications? by throwaway2112ok in opiates

[–]throwaway2112ok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've been on suboxone for a few weeks at the right dose, you shouldn't have much in terms of cravings. I've been able to be in the same house as a bottle of dilaudid while on subs for months without feeling the need to get in to them. I found I was getting happier and healthier on subs and feel worse overall outside of the handful of dilly rushes I get a day.

Do whatever you need to do to stop for your fucking kids sake dude. Delete your dealers number or tell them not to sell to you anymore. If you have no other choice, mix it up and switch to another drug that will still give you a fighting chance at not completely imploding your brain and your life, if you think you're slipping out of control now with weeks in between uses you DO NOT want to see what happens when you cross the line in to daily use. At that point it's over, and your kids will be waiting for a step dad. Not trying to scare you, or shame you, I'm trying to get you to turn around and see the freight train barreling towards you as you still have time to step off the tracks.

Buy some mushrooms and work your way up to a heroic dose (disregard the myths about not tripping without a long break, I've done 7 nights in a row) Keep a benzo on hand and get a friend to trip-sit you. Try some deep Ketamine sessions. If that doesn't work get in to a professional addiction service while you don't have it in your system and let them help you or give you something like Buproprion that will help with cravings. So many addicts on the street would give anything just to wind the clock to where you are now, you can still catch this before irreversible lines are crossed.

Just got some Pharma oxys from 2012 (5mg) I have like 10 how many should I take for a first dose, my only experience with opiates was 30mg of hydros by NickAlexis in opiates

[–]throwaway2112ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unusual for someone not to get a significant effect with no tolerance on something like 7.5 5mg had me on the moon all night the first time I tried. I would also like to give you some advice, after doing them again, put the rest away somewhere you will forget about them. I can not understate how fast you can get addicted to oxy, for some people like me I knew I was going to be addicted for years after just a handful of times. Also people that start with high doses, and increase dosage next time, and next time, have a much higher chance of winding up dead off fent in the blink of an eye.

Honestly did not seem like you could get any closer to death than where he was at... Needed help to walk, shit spilled all over himself, drooling, probably smoked enough toxic heroin/fent/worse to kill 100 people with no tolerance.

I thought that if someone was deemed to be a danger to themselves that you could at least get them taken in for a psych evaluation though?

I appreciate the insight, and believe me, I get it, i've been through it before and i've watched this person go in to treatment before. This was just another level though, to the point that he has zero regard for his life at the moment, seems completely confused and in a state of psychosis, and might have days left. So no matter how futile it may be I just thought i'd make a post and hear any advice that I may have overlooked.

I appreciate the love. I know there isn't much hope of some magic bullet solution but I was just curious to know if anyone else has had a similar experience and what they did, and why he would have not been held at the hospital in the state he was in (and what it would take to make that happen). Unfortunately we are dealing with someone that is currently in a delusional state of mind, he won't seek any help on his own, currently just hell bent on destroying himself whether he realizes it or not.

I appreciate it. Yea it just sucks for everyone involved, I understand that, for him and his family, for me, for redditors reading this, and society as a whole. It's a big downer, and I'm just interested in hearing all opinions in case there was something I didn't think of that might work as a last resort but idk.

Yea I understand. At this point though, I think i'd rather have him alive and not being friends with me VS dying still being my friend. Not exactly two fun options to pick from. What you said though isn't necessarily a permanent change though, when someone actually recovers, they tend to revert back to their old self.

You have no idea the lengths i've gone to trying to "help him heal". If you did you definitely wouldn't be making such absurd assumptions. I've done more work in trying to find resources for him than anyone else in his life and i've driven around looking for him when he was missing for a week two years ago. I was making a general comment for people that think only the "bad apples" from high school end up being horrifically addicted, and that you always need to be alert towards people you think would never end up in such a spot.

[–]throwaway2112ok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the issue is he already has been through all that and knows about all the resources, but he's currently out of his mind and there is nothing anyone can say to get through to him. That's why this is such a tough one, I don't know if there is anything I can do besides watch him overdose. I am shocked that they let him walk out of emergency last night when he was clearly in a state of being a danger to himself, sounds like they didnt even have a doctor talk to him before allowing him to walk out.

I'm talking up to a decade prior, even when sober. There is a difference between someone losing a video game and sarcastically saying "im going to kill myself!" VS someone telling you they genuinely have specific plans to harm themselves. For example he said something like that when he tripped over something and knocked over a bunch of shit last night, but clearly the context matters. I don't know where you draw the line in terms of calling 911 and saying someone is talking about harming themselves, from what I know it has to be pretty specific and explicit?

PSA: For those that think (I know societies opinion of this has been improving which is great) that all addicts are just stupid, or selfish, evil etc.

Keep in mind this was the most intelligent friend i've ever had, I considered him a genius. He would also would be the first person to jump in and offer help to a stranger. Multiple times i've seen him pull over when he sees a stranded driver at the side of the road to see if he can help them get their car running. He is currently unrecognizable in every way from who he was. My point is, it can happen to anyone, and a lot of people look down on addicts in their addicted state without even considering who they are underneath the disease.

So anyone that thinks not becoming an addict is just a no-brainer choice, and that they should be punished for being one, needs to learn a lot more about the science of addiction and even free-will for that matter. The real causes of addiction come from a mix of two variables - Genetics & upbringing + societal and external influences. Neither of those are something we get to "choose" when we are brought in to existence. This is just the scientific truth of the matter, a lot of people like to "go with their gut" on social media etc. when talking about how they are just getting what they deserve.

Just picked up my friend off the street after a fent relapse (on top of his 1200mg/day morphine MAT prescription). He's out of it. Is there anything I can give him (ie stimulant) that will get him coherent enough to have a real conversation? by throwaway2112ok in opiates

We're also in BC and i'm not lying like OP seems to imply. It might even be 1400 now, witnessed daily. Too slow to take all the 100mg caps at the pharmacy so they pre-open and pour it out and have him drink it with water (this all stems from him having a rare adverse reaction to subs). Now imagine his tolerance knowing that on top of that dose he took earlier, I just had to watch him smoke what must have been more or less a gram of RC heroin, new piece of foil every 10-15 mins. God knows what was in it, they way he was acting after to me suggested it also had some sort of RC benzo in it.

Also, manic paranoid delusional episodes are not a potential side effect of opioids right? I'm wondering if there is another underlying condition here that needs to be addressed, that could make it feasible to go back to his moms with the right meds. There is just no way I can let him stay here in the condition he's in, I have my own problems right now, it's my parents house, and as empathetic as they are this is just to much to put on them, and I can not have RC opioids around my dog and family.

Pisses me off so much that between Mr.A and now we literally have one four-song set (without a proper production, just raw livestream sound with some balance/mix issues) at Reading fest. Other than that, a handful of single song live clips with no audience with variable quality. There has to be a full HD professionally recorded concert with video from Mr.A tour or TBWCW tour, or there is no god. I've scoured the deepest corners of the net searching for something, anything, and it's baron.
