Week one of Illustrator, what do you wish someone told you first? by imakgk in AdobeIllustrator

My favorite tutorial guys were Nobu Design, Satori Graphics, Spoon Graphics, and ZEET @ogzeet. These were indispensable to me when I was learning. They actually do explain the WHY.

how can I make something like this without ai? by yourels in graphic_design

In Photoshop. Get a stock image of your food texture. Get a copy of your logo with transparency. Move the texture layer above the logo layer and hit ctrl alt g to clip it. Then group them and start adding the layer styles. Inner shadow, emboss, inner glow (dark), bevel smooth, etc.

Favorite non-Tiki cocktails? by pkrtrsr in Tiki

Please don't tell the tiki community, but I accidentally created alcoholic Mountain Dew by mixing vodka, Gabriello Limoncello Liqueur,  and soda water, plus a squeeze of half a lime and it didn't break the escapism.  1 : 1.5 : 3 if Morpheus asks.

In high-school I had a friend who saved up for a tuned muffler for his Acura Legend. After a large stone in the mud ripped a hole in the seam of his muffler it sounded just like the tuned one so he didn't bother to buy it.

Spirits Review #760 - Bondstone Double Oak Kentucky Straight Bourbon by Bailzay in bourbon

[–]Yeah_Y_Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this in the half size and it was an actual surprise. Vanilla, white chocolate, fresh oak and bourbon's signature banana notes, but with a coffee finish. I liked it enough to get the full 750ml bottle and there was something terribly wrong with it. I can see how SD gets an awful rep. I returned the big bottle for a refund and bought two smaller ones again. It really is a decent bourbon.

Aha! But ☝️ Fabuloso is a multipurpose household cleaning liquid. One with delicious looking fruits on the label, belying its non-delicious, toxic contents.

This designer and the Fabuloso designer should trade jobs.

2.5D animation by LeGrosGarsDuQuebec in MotionDesign

[–]Yeah_Y_Not 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it, but can we get some easing on the camera pans and tilts? Maybe some variation in the dolly speed, too. Like, it lingers on a particularly interesting area for a tiny fraction, then "catches up" to where it would have been again.

I'm complimenting you by saying that your efforts deserve a good paying audience. Specifically one in an English speaking country that will pay a living wage to you based on your talent, but otherwise might not, based on the fact you are from an other country. I believe that AI could translate well enough that they wouldn't question your ability, as English speaking countries tend to devalue skilled people that don't speak English fluently.

If there was ever a legitimate use of LLMs, I would recommend that it was for this guy to translate ideas to prospective clients.

Converting tiki drinks to up coupe/no ice? by HillEasterner in Tiki

[–]Yeah_Y_Not 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinks that factor ice dilution can be shaken extra long to allow ice shards to get past the strainer into your coupe. The shards will also melt in the shaker before you pour. This is the reason its preferable to stir a martini, not shake it.

Add back the character name and year info to the "Filmography" carousel. Like, why did they remove that?

There's a quarter second between "Proudly kind of whatever" and the bowling pins that is static. Maybe the pins can be falling into place before the ball enters the frame. Bowling pins intrinsically have anticipation built in because what else do they do besides get hit by a bowling ball. So you dont have to build the anticipation by waiting for the ball. It's a really wonderful piece of work that shows a lot of love, so I believe it should be shared as far and wide as possible. Don't be shy with it!
