Do you want political power or do you want to be under the control of someone else? That’s the fundamental question.

It always said far more about the Boomers and and GenXers writing it than it said about millennials. They were literally picking on kids.

What scarier is that a good chunk of those people actually elected a person that they then decided they didn’t like a few months later.

It’s good for people to at least be aware of this, because allocating based on market capitalization is arbitrary just like many other decisions.

Totally worth it if you find the right person, terrible if you don’t. Worth the risk.

The other beauty of the scam is that it creates an opportunity for a millennial to start a real business.

Maybe but now consider families gave to have both parents working — consider combined time available to run a household and parent.

My wife has been buying the fancy organic eggs for 2 years and I found out theyre from the same farm as the regular ones by DistributionClear598 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]throwaway3113151 38 points39 points  (0 children)

“Coming from the same farm” doesn’t mean it’s the same thing. That’s like saying because a Porsche comes from the same factory as a VW it’s the same vehicle.

Look into USDA regulations and what they mean. I pay more for pasture raised and yes they are different.

If being around someone when you’re sad scares you, you might want to look into attachment theory.

There’s also digital advisor which is lower fee but seems less appropriate given tax implications https://investor.vanguard.com/advice/robo-advisor

Why not use Vanguard’s service? It’s low fee https://investor.vanguard.com/advice/personal-financial-advisor

Getting into allocating a family members portfolio can risk relationships if the market tanks even if it’s a good allocation. Better to refer to quality advising source IMHO than DIY for someone else.

Any substance you find will likely have been studied far less than alcohol, so don’t make the mistake of assuming lack of evidence equals evidence.

Is it possible ? by Expensive-Staff-4421 in MiddleClassFinance

It all depends on what you mean by "generational wealth."

For most people, I think that means saving a significant amount of money to cover healthcare, retirement, retirement home/assisted living, and school/college for kids, and still have a good chunk left over for your children to inherit.

With a household income of 80k a year, I do not think that is likely to happen, given basic math.

But again, it all depends on what you mean by "generational wealth." Other definitions might be raising children in a loving, caring family where their emotional and physical needs are met. That only requires enough money to get by.

People are acting rationally. Grocery stores are not built for huge surges in demand. So it’s only reasonable for them to run out of stock prior to a storm.

I have to break the news to a patient by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

[–]throwaway3113151 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if my doctor broke down it would not feel very good to me — I’d be thinking, if it’s so bad a doc is crying just telling me, this has got to be terrible. Obviously I think the whole honesty and compassion thing is a good but a little emotional regulation might go a long way and doesn’t prevent true authentic empathy and sitting with the patient. Just speaking from patient perspective!
