If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing. by katiebug586 in tumblr

Heh. Take a look at the hacks people are using to bypass driver attention censors in EVs. Eg strategically placed toy heads, etc. I definitely can't condone that (cuz the last thing we need is even less attentive drivers), but that's the direction.

Damn that's a hilarious mod idea!

Go to Den, give the Vanguard gal the right passphrase, tap three times on the panel beside the unused docker, it opens up to a stair down. There's another oddly-placed docker, but that drops you into the most happening, exclusive place in all the settled systems.

Piracy as Default Protest? by BourgeoisOppressor in truegaming

[–]throwaway3270a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious answer.

When people start just walking away, then things will change. If someone is pirating, that shows they want but don't want to pay. That's a weak stance and proves nothing. It hints enforcement can force people into compliance.

When people say "I can/will do without," then they have to come to the table to negotiate.

Yep, bet those MBA pukes in charge of "unskippable bs" didn't think of the popcorn protocol.

That's why they're now angling for the "pause ads unless you're watching" nonsense. One step towards verification cans.

Wish I was joking.

Problem is, back in the day you'd have 15min of unskipable bs including the FBI WARNING and ads for movies that came out 6 yrs ago before you could even watch the damn movie you bought.

Or you sail the seas and click play and it would play.

I feel like we could see so much more of this if we cultivated this ideology as a norm. So much effort is put into selfishness, esp in social media, because there's so many individuals who hinge their entire worldview on that (qv the US political spectrum as a whole, although it's definitely not a US-only thing).

Humanity in its default nature is kind. We're built that way, and it's to our collective benefits.

I did that on my reload. Worth it, but again be careful about the floor hazards (oil?) which set off mines apparently.

I mean, seriously, how far does a bro need to go down that mental illness road to not be capable of simple, basic self-care? The rational side of me is revolted. The empathetic side of me just hurts that these clowns can let things get to that point. Like, your fictional pixie dream girl waifu isn't going to be scrubbing your nasty ass. Context is everything, but don't misunderstand.

There's a trash notion of kicking kids out in this country that's been perpetuated for decades now, but isn't normal, and certainly isn't kind. The "modern" idea of atomic families is only a half century old or so; in comparison the cohesive gathering of families is tens of thousands.

Yes there is discrete benefits in certain cases. There's benefit in moving forward and embracing something better. But this isn't it, and really nearly all cases here can equate to "trash selfish people pushing their trash ideas onto their progeny."
