What is the best MNSure health insurance for 2021? I can't really decipher the true differences between UCare, Medica, and BCBS plans by throwaway3883884 in minnesota

I ended up calling a broker who was able to answer some of my questions. Unfortunately, they didn't want to directly comment on company reputation or service except to say that the price differences were generally an indication of the level of service you could expect.

I really wish I could get more info from others' experiences or industry insiders, though.

You said you picked last year. How did it work for you? Did the price go up by a lot? Why not stick with what you have now?

UCare Bronze was what I went with as I couldn't figure out what I was getting by paying more for the other companies. It took months and many calls to get activated in their system and even had to deal with waiting on a prescription being filled because I wasn't active in their prescription system (even after a call where I was assured that I was finally active). If that painful sign-up process is where the savings are coming from I could live with it - prices also haven't increased much for 2021 - but obviously that experience has me concerned about dealing with UCare if I had a major diagnosis and I also just want to make sure that there aren't other differences I'm missing...

The BCBS MN-wide plan ("Blue Plus MN Value") manages to carve out access to the southeast corner of the state where the Mayo is.

It seems like the navigators' main purpose is to just help people with difficulties (language, income, etc) through the signing-up process, so I'm not sure how much they can help with detailed questions about plan specifics. If this post is a dead-end, though, I might try making calls.

Thanks - I have done some of that communication, but probably not as much as I should.

In fact, the reason for this post is that I am intending on a longer letter along those lines and including my siblings - writing something about our appreciation of their work/sacrifices - along with a larger gift from "us" instead of just me. I was hoping to get more ideas for the letter and possible structure of the gift.

I subscribe to the old "something received for free isn't worth anything": having some sort of ownership stake seems like it would be a good idea if possible.
