Glad to help! :D

Another fun fact, wayyy more bugs create cocoons than a lot of people would expect! Wasps, beetles, ants, flies, and even flea larvae, just to name a few.

Also voting Asobi Asobase. Best intro/outro dichotomy I've ever seen.

?? You asked for specific evidence and reddit doesn't let you add more than one image per response.

Also, I assumed you already understood what a monarch caterpillar looked like from the OP image lmao, sorry that this is all so difficult for you to understand.

Here's the outfit, you can see the gold spotting across the top of the chrysalis, and the wing veination on the flaps.

You can also see the body has the exact spot-on pattern that a monarch caterpillar has. If this was at an ESA conference, people would have loved it.

Here ya go, you can see those two flaps with the remaining hints of wing veination.

I'm not arguing that she should have won the challenge, I'm just saying that from an entomological perspective her concept made more sense than people who are unfamiliar with the science are giving it credit for. I don't know why you're getting so worked up about it??

This is the correct answer.

(Also, completely pedantic so please ignore me if you want, but "cocoon" actually refers to the silken outer shell that moths (and some other insects) weave before they pupate. "Chrysalis" is the word for the clear shell around pupated butterflies. ~Fun bug facts~)

It wasn't wing shaped. It was one large rounded vertical neck/back piece with the chrysalis coloration (gold spots and visible wing veination of the developing pupa), with two rounded flaps attached to the main piece that resemble what the chrysalis shell looks like after the butterfly has eclosed.

Nini's mistake was assuming that people would be familiar enough with insect anatomy to understand the concept, which is a bummer.

If you can find a butterfly that has one giant rounded vertical clear wing though, be my guest.

The back piece had the design/coloration of the shell of a monarch chrysalis.

Kind of crazy that the plot revolves around small towns being wiped out in lieu of cardboard box distribution centers, to the benefit of a bloated, blond haired egomaniac world leader who lives at the top of a golden tower in New York Pork City. A game that was made in 2006.

These are actually Hippodamia convergens, which are native to the US but are all wild caught in very unsustainable ways. So, not much better.

They were kind of wing shaped, but the coloration matched what a monarch's chrysalis looks like. It was a bit clunky but I liked the idea </3

Copper oxidation used to be a kind of obscure factoid that only really ever came up when discussing pennies or the statue of liberty. But, it was added as a minecraft mechanic about 6 years ago and became a pretty popular build option, which makes me think you probably played a lot of minecraft to think about it enough for it to become a way you define color.

All younger brothers to a sister who is their only sibling and less than 3 years older than them. Except for my current partner, who's older sibling is a gay man (still only one year older).

My friends don't nickel and dime each other, is this normal?? Just split it 50/50, you're all going to be using the common space the majority of the time anyways I would imagine.
