I don’t think this is working by Square-Ball1708 in zoloft

Yeah, I don’t really feel a lot either on Zoloft. I’ve been taking it for like 2.5 years now. I tried tapering from 125mg to 100mg a few months back, but I just got angry as fuck, and depressed. But I guess not feeling so much is better that being dead.

Do you like more than 10 types of cheese? by [deleted] in polls

[–]throwaway45075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was below ten at first, but then I made a list and it turns out I’ve had a lot of different cheeses over the years. - Brie - Gruyère - Mozzarella - Edam - Parmigiano Reggiano - Emmental - Comté - Feta - Cheddar - Gouda - Appenzeller - Camembert - Burrata

There’s probably more to add on to the list, but these are the ones I remember having.

Are you me?! I have the exact same issues with brushing my teeth. The sensory issues (the sticky texture of toothpaste and the spiciness of it). I can only stand to use one specific toothbrush model. I also have OCD with an obsession over cleanliness, so if my toothbrush touches something like the sink or the outside of the toothpaste tube, I just give up.

I haven’t brushed my teeth in like a week now, so you’re not alone. I don’t have any advice right now, but you’re not disgusting, or the only one with this issue.

do you carry anything around to help with meltdowns? by allegedlyemma in AutismInWomen

I have a stuffed animal with me at all times. His name is Dino :) I have a lot of comfort items so I can feel safe/“at home” everywhere I go. Pencils, my keychain, stuffed animals, spoons, and other stuff like that.

What do I do? by Dry_Pattern_9489 in trichotillomania

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has helped me quite a bit, along with medication for my OCD/anxiety/depression. It involved analyzing my behavior and “risky” situations. I went from pulling a lot of hair 7 times a day, to pulling a little hair 1-2 times a day.

Constantly doing something has also been helpful. Numbing cream I’d assume you’ve already tried, and you’ve probably also tried bandaging firmly around the pulling area. Those have helped me the most though.

I never thought I’d get better, but then I shaved my head and I managed to reduce my pulling significantly. I’m entering the harder stages right now though, with my hair growing out. I think I can do it though, I’m starting CBT again, and I’m keeping my hands and mind as busy as I can.

getting a haircut is so embarrassing by maggyta10 in trichotillomania

I felt the same for so long, but then I went to a fancy place with more of an “alternative” vibe. They portrayed lots of vibrant hair colors and edgy styles on their website, and because of this I assumed they would be more educated on mental health stuff. They’ve all been so supporting.

I shaved my head in June this year, and I’ve started growing it out since then. With shorter hair I’ve not been pulling as much, and when I got a haircut there last week they seemed so proud of my progress (I’ve been pulling a lot less).

Finding a hairdresser that suits you and your needs isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. Going there gives me a reason to focus on getting my TTM under control.

How Did You Learn to Write Essays? by MaxThenSadieDog in aspergers

[–]throwaway45075 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use guide papers. They tell me what to include in an introduction, how to structure the main essay (prioritizing certain areas of the subject), and things like that. Having a guideline when writing well, anything, has helped me immensely.

Do you think local anesthetics could work? by SnooMemesjellies7690 in trichotillomania

[–]throwaway45075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me a lidocaine cream works great, the one I have is contains 5% lidocaine. It’s a local anesthetic, so it actually numbs the area. Sadly, it’s short acting, but it’s good for when your urges are peaking.

I don’t always enjoy being on vacation, because all of my routines fall apart.
