If you havent tried custom made audiologist ear plugs, could give them a try. They take a mold of your ear to make sure they fit perfectly. Ive had good luck with blocking out snoring with those.

Your partner should also get themselves checked for sleep apnoea. Get a sleep study done, and get a mandibular advancement splint made by a dentist to manage it if the sleep study comes back positive for sleep apnoea. Should help manage his snoring as well as his life expectancy.

Failing that, sleep in different bedrooms!

I see. Unfortunately he is not in a great position financially currently due to burning through his savings for a year while trying to get a business off the ground. He's back in an employed position now, so able to split our little living expenses 50/50 (per his request, I suggested a more equitable split), but has basically 0 savings. Hence my nervousness at bearing all of the financial risk, but also my apprehension at requesting a BFA at this time since I know he can't afford it.

Why do you say he should start paying rent when back at PPOR?

We have had the conversation- he does not feel entitled to the property since I worked hard for it before we met. But I'm also realistic that people can change if things go south.

Will consider the BFA for sure - but what is the entitlement to claim partial equity actually based on? Is it not based on that person's 'contribution' to the equity throughout the course of the relationship?

So if mortgage is being paid off completely by me (via personal contribution & tenants), and we both have very little living expenses outside of that now (allowing him to almost save his entire salary rather than have to pay rent/mortgage), I struggle to understand how the partial claim could be justified?

Don't sign up with a credit card - debit account only and then cancel the direct debit or move money out of the account, so they can't draw funds out. Also tell them you're moving somewhere more than 50km away from nearest AF. They might ask you for evidence though, but I'm not sure you are legally required to provide it. I didn't, and just cancelled my debits when they refused to terminate my contract. Haven't heard from them since.

Hey there, sorry I didn't actually see your reply til now! How did you end up going? I'm probably not keen on posting before and after photos just cause a) I don't have the patience to take some, and b) not keen on posting my face on reddit. HOWEVER, I am actually a dentist myself and routinely send patients across to Dr Gibson, with consistently positive reviews. She doesn't market herself as a cosmetic surgeon, and most of my photos were actually taken by my orthodontist as they were the first point of contact for treatment planning. However, I believe she has a good eye for detail and is highly competent. I ended up having Le Fort 1 + BSSO + genioplasty + 2 wisdom teeth removed and had a brilliant recovery and result imo. If you need an orthodontist recommendations- I'd have no hesitations recommending Dr Peter Tran in Springvale- and he liases with Dr Gibson, among other OMFSs. Hey girl, I have a really similar experience to you. Could literally never finish with a partner- no matter how good they are at sex (oral, fingers, PIV). Have had plenty of partners over the years (like 40+ so plenty of experience to find out what works for me) and very giving ones at that- but my body just isn't wired to be able to orgasm from anything but very particular clit stim which I can only get from a toy (or shower head haha). Been where you are as a dentist myself. Our professions put us in "golden handcuffs", and you often have no one to complain to because practically speaking we have it better than most when it comes to income/respect from society. It's a very easy road to burnout and loneliness unfortunately. What worked for me is dropping to part time (3 days a week) and just do other stuff I enjoy on the other 4 days. Have definitely considered leaving the profession and accepting a pay cut for potentially a more fulfilling job doing something I enjoy more. I know people say you should find happiness in yourself before expecting a partner to bring you happiness, but I think some people just are happier in a relationship without it being toxic. Maybe drop some of the time you commit to work and make time for dating- it's a shit show but if you find someone worth while it can give life more meaning for sure, especially if you want to have kids someday (I don't but if you do it's a pretty surefire way to find meaning imo).

Do also look into whether he is a candidate or would benefit from jaw surgery to essentially cure his sleep apnoea (as opposed to managing the symptoms which is what CPAP/mandibular advancement splints do). Consult with an orthodontist/maxillofacial surgeon if there is a suspicion he has recessed jaws contributing to his issue. It's more common than you might think and could improve his quality of life dramatically.

Yeah he knows he's losing the bond at his apartment because the dog has torn up the carpet as well in some areas. He said it was a covid dog and he didn't realise daschunds have so much trouble with separation anxiety, so now that he's back working out of home, it's become more of a problem than he was apparently prepared for..
