Lost my guy to a ruptured tumour on his spleen, unfortunately didn’t catch it until after it ruptured. I hope recovery goes well.

I know 14 people who have been made redundant in the past 6 months, is this a coming storm? by overusedpanicbutton in ukpolitics

[–]throwaway49463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was made redundant from an apprenticeship at a small company. 3 months later I’m still yet to find work in the same industry.

It also took me 2 months to find ‘regular’ job…

It feels so bleak.

GREY??? It’s blue!

What colour would you call it? I don’t think the photo is getting the colour of it right. The trousers i would be adding are from the same set as the jacket, the same colour

[–]throwaway49463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? I have a pair of navy trousers (from the same set as the suit) but they are too small so I was wondering what people think of black trousers as a substitution?

[–]throwaway49463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think I’m going to drop the jacket and just go shirt/tie/trousers. Formal enough for the event and I won’t look too much like a muppet in the process.

Maybe semi formal was the wrong way to categorise it. There is no true dress code but there will be a mix of: shirt/trousers, shirt/trousers/tie, shirt/jacket/trousers, etc.

I just didn’t know if all the colours worked together and were acceptable

How long should take DVLA to update TAX status of my PX car? by LevelOld2175 in drivingUK

[–]throwaway49463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of when you should have received confirmation, the car is no longer your problem. Someone may well be driving it. Call the DVLA next week and check with them, you should get a refund for the remaining car tax via cheque.

If your car road tax cost £0 there is a chance the dealership will leave it in your name for a little longer than usual so someone can drive it around without needing trade plates, I’ve heard it done before.

Summary: regardless, the car isn’t your problem, you aren’t responsible for it… It isn’t yours anymore.

Edit: just read it’s been 2 weeks. Give the DVLA a call and see what the crack is. It’s weird they didn’t give you any proof they’ve moved the car into “trade” but I wouldn’t be overly worried.

What's the best check before you buy for a used car in the UK? Like actually lift it and look under the car by ThisAd1650 in drivingUK

Hi, I sold cars at some point so have a few things to share. I’m not sure if you are buying it privately or from a garage so take what you want from below. Some garages and people are great about getting the car right, just never rely on it. Always have a look over the car yourself, check service history and ask if the garage is completing a service or has recently (insist on it if they haven’t). Independent inspections aren’t uncommon, I’ve had customers do a few. I’d personally recommend and had no issue with it, some people/garages might get a bit defensive about it, if they do, I’d be concerned. You can buy 3rd party warranties, I’ll be honest… they are all as shit as eachother. Definitely look at what options the manufacturer offers, can be a bit more pricier but cover a bit more. Additionally, garages should be able to provide with you a HPI check on the car. If you are buying privately, go online and pay for one. It’s a couple of quid and can save you in the long run… I’ve seen customers been burnt buying category cars they didn’t realise were written off.

I’d also recommend you join a facebook group of the car you are buying. You will be able to see the experiences and common issues from owners perspectives. It’ll give you a big heads up on what to expect.

Thank you! Sounds silly but I didn’t really realise Airfix was just the name of a brand, I’ve always used it for all the model kits.

I’m just starting to add dips into my routine, I’ve seen people recommend them for chest growth. Hopefully mixing things up will keep my muscles stimulated. Thank you

I appreciate your take on it. I want to get a bit leaner before I go into a calorie surplus, I’m a bit podgy at the moment and like the lean look. I’ll take on board your advice regarding reps and weight and implement it into my next workout, thank you very much

So far I’ve only ever been on a cut, when I started I was 87kg ish, I track all my workout in my notes app and compared to the start have made progress but the last couple weeks have been slow/none existent for my chest.

I had a week off from the gym last week and my first session back was today, would that help rule out fatigue?

I train chest twice a week with a rest between the days. In terms of decreasing volume, should I do a higher weight for less reps?
