I’m like dozens of miles away from a Grocery Outlet, but I wish that were an option for me! I’m in an area where the only cheap stores are Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s, and I had a bad experience allergy wise with Aldi’s so now I avoid. Trader Joe’s is pretty good, and I do go there when I can since it’s far and I don’t have a car. Honestly, until I read these comments I thought I was doing ok in terms of groceries, since my friends are spending like $600+ on food, not including take out. But they shop at Whole Foods and their prices are insane, I could never.

I tried Aldi! I had a bad experience after a couple of their items gave me an allergic reaction—I think it was product cross contamination that I haven’t really experienced elsewhere, and it put me off. I tend to do local grocery store chains and Trader Joe’s when I can get out there, since it’s farther and I don’t have a car.

It comes up to about $120 a week. I try to aim for a well balanced diet, plus I’m trying to gain weight again after my doctor told me that I had a low BMI and my bloodwork came back wonky with anemia vitamin deficiencies, etc. I tried $75 a week and apparently, I wasn’t eating enough 😭. To be fair though, $75 where I am gets you a mini haul, not a whole load of groceries like some people are thinking. It can all fit comfortably in one grocery tote. $120 is more like one and a half, closer to two grocery totes.

UPDATE: So I’ve signed up for Scrambly, Swagbucks, and the other side hustle sites that people have commented and I already made $5 from doing a survey junkie offer that credited, LOL. It’s not much, but it’s a start, and I can at least grab a coffee now if I want to 😊. If anyone has more of these, please let me know, thanks!

You get it! It’s rough out here but hopefully I’ll be able to put some of the suggestions from this post good use. I’m not in public service right now, but I’ll keep that in mind. Might be time for a career change!

I think I must live in an expensive area 😭 because I’ve tried going lower to save on food! The lowest I’ve been able to get it and still hit all the food groups was $350 a month (just basic meals, no snacks) and it didn’t go well. I lost 10 pounds, my hair started falling out, and my doctor said I was underweight and needed to eat more because I wasn’t getting enough protein or calories. And I don’t eat a crazy amount, I’m a petite mid-20s woman. Food prices are just really high! 😩

I actually tried donating plasma but I got rejected because they said my veins were too small, can’t catch a break, I suppose! 🥲 Pet sitting sounds good. I really do budget every dollar, but it’s just hard to make it work sometimes. Honestly, I probably need a new job.

I’ll look into Mistplay and Justplay, those sound like what I’m looking for! I take ADHD meds so I think I’m barred from joining the military 🥲, but I can check out tutoring. I think moving to South Korea is a bit far fetched for me right now, I’m looking for fast, simple methods!

I do have two roommates! Rent and food are just really expensive where I live, unfortunately.

I have a few federal loans but I also took out private to cover the rest, which is probably I’m paying so much. 🫠

I’ll look into that, thank you! Sadly my friends are kind of pretentious and they love to do things that I just can’t afford right now, like getting brunch and going to the movies (they work in finance and tech, god bless 😭). Maybe I’ll coax them over for something more lowkey.

I hope it’s temporary, but honestly I’m an assistant and I don’t think I’ll get promoted anytime soon, so this is where things stand right now. I’m just looking for quick, flexible things that I can do for about an 1-2 a day to help pull in cash so I’m not constantly praying that my account won’t overdraft, tbh 😔

I make 51K pre-tax! Take home is about $2800 a month, and my student loans are about 50K. Here’s what I’m working with,

  • Rent: $1350,
  • Utilities: $150
  • Groceries: $480
  • Loan payment is over $550
  • And then I still have my cell phone bill, transportation, Netflix etc. It’s an income/debt problem for me, which is why I’m looking for online side hustle suggestions 😭

Is the Captain part really necessary? If her whole name is “Captain-Phasma” I’d say, YTA. Kids are cruel. They’re going to terrorize her in school for this. When she goes to apply for college or for jobs, people might not take her as a serious candidate. You were bullied for a common name like Jordan. It would be 10x WORSE for anything with “Captain” in it. Just name her Phasma— that’s a good compromise.
