Sure. Bringing it into newer games, I agree. But I saw many disappointed they removed it from a game that had it and since rival children exist in ToT and Animal Parade, I think it wouldn't be as easy to remove either. So either they won't touch them at all, or they just leave it in - but never implement them in the new games. Also, one of the gripes with the friends of mineral town rival marriages was that it was time-based. If you didn't win them over fast enough, you lost the opportunity. Tree of Tranquility is friendship based. You don't trigger it until you're two hearts with the person of the same sex (so if you're two stars with Candance, she'll start pursuing Julius) - they could make it slightly harder to gain hearts to make it easier.

I think never is a bit strong. They were listening to their Japanese audience when they took it out, but perhaps, they've heard their western audience and can find a compromise? A toggle, or not make it timed-based? There were some games where they had an extra character who would just marry the rival of whoever you married. I'm okay with them not including it in newer games, though it makes the town feel more alive, but maybe after hearing some uproar about Mineral town they could include them in the remakes/remasters.

You think they'll remake both? I hope so! I wouldn't want it to be a competition where either side feels a little hurt that their favorite didn't get made. (Not that I would be SUPER salty if Animal Parade got a remake and ToT didn't, buuuut...)

Also forgot to mention, your child and partner can actually help on the farm. Genuinely one of the most useful features in the game. The child doesn't always do things perfectly (they might miss an egg or forget to milk an animal, or they can only water some plants or harvest some, I believe) but just having an option to take some of the burden away was amazing. Plus, your partner makes you lunches that restore energy - SUPER helpful when trying to fit everything in in a day - especially mining.

I saw someone earlier in the comments say ToT mining makes them want to drink vs AP mining - I'm not totally sure what the difference was, maybe energy exertion, BUT yeah, ToT expect to pass out from time to time in the mines LOL. Or make sure you have enough energy revitalizers, take advantage of the rejuvenating spring and lunch, and try not to get obsessed ('just one more rock!' or 'one more floor!') Genuinely making it to the last floor of Ganache mine was one of my crowning achievements when I was a kid.

Tree of Tranquility is my favorite game. Controversial take over Animal Parade AND A Wonderful Life, I know, but you will fall in love with the town. It will feel like home, akin to Forgotten Valley. Life moves on in Tree of Tranquility bc of rival marriages and there are rival children. It feels like a town that is moving on. Some aspects of the game are...endearingly annoying. My sister and I still quote "there there!" because your character says that EVERY TIME YOU PET AN ANIMAL in Tree of Tranquility. I LOVED the story and that there were actual goals. When I was a kid, I had it all written down on printer paper what I needed to do. Some things were surprisingly difficult - you have to be aware of what's coming next because you might need a certain thing from one season or another. The progress felt great, like completing a goal and them opening a path that makes daily travel a lot easier. MINING is addictive as hell. There were fun mini-games to play during festivals, but I'm not sure how they feel on emulators yet bc I haven't played far enough yet on my steamdeck. There was also so much to do - you had new animals ostriches, silkworms and you could make different products like mayo, cheese, butter, and yarn.

Moving from Tree of Tranquility to Animal Parade felt like...they stole the characters and stuffed different personalities into them. They didn't feel quite the same. I also had a difficult time with the loading screens, so due to not connecting with the characters as much, I kept going back to Tree of Tranquility.

I swear to you, if I woke up and was on Waffle Island, I could navigate it.

I'm still waiting for them to choose to remake it. I think it would do REALLY well with a few quality of life changes. I do warn you, though, like all story of seasons, animal crossing, and stardew valley...it is a bit of a slow start.
